Tomorrow I plan to replace the brake fluid and bleed the system, then I need to order some brake pad fitting pins as I forgot to order them so at the moment the pads are held in with split pins which are too short.

All looking good .
The pins I got in the 12 to 10 conversion kit were a bit on the thin side and the pads rattled . I found some larger replacements.
So you both doing Riv Run ?

Best thing I did was put on the 'S' brakes refurb those old GB's of Deans , ditch the spindly 12 inch steels and lower the car.

The split pins ive used to allow me to bleed the brakes are 9/64" (4.5mm) according to dad' old split pin box,and they are tiny. Not sure about the riv run yet, will decide soon.
I love the look of it Dean.

New pins and front cones ordered. The current front cones have collapsed and need replacing before we get travelling around this summer. The rear cones are the softer "Smooth-a-ride" type and will also be being replaced shortly.

I fitted the new front cones today and reshimmed the nearside top swivel which had developed bit of a knock. The old cones were totally past it and had collapsed. Lewis did a very good job fitting the new correct length brake pad pins, dont panic I did check what he'd done. Next week we're going to fit new rear cones, remove the rusty old fuel tank and fit a newer one, change to unspaced rear drums and then bleed the brakes. Attachments:

Yep , they look about normal for knackered ones .
Take note boys , these are the sort of basic things that need sorting before you put on the silly big wheels and stickers.

Today was very constructive and we got loads done. Torqued up the hub nuts and fitted new split pins. Replaced a broken cable tie on one of the inner cv joint gaitors with a decent metal one. Replaced the bolt that held the lower lcb mount to the gear box....it had fallen out. Blead the brakes and replace the fluid with ATE Super Blue DOT4 racing fluid. Grease the uper and lower swivels. Then on to the back Replaced the old cones with new. Replaced the old spaced drums with standard unspaced drums and 10mm spacers. Adjusted the rear brakes. Replaced the wheel studs with shorter ones Adjusted the rear wheel bearings and fitted new split pins. Replaced the old rusty/leaking fuel tank with a very good second hand one. Attachments:
