Well I thought better move this thread here rather than carry it on on the newbie board.
I was due to collect a 1988 City 1000 automatic tomorrow (05/02) but unfortunately the lockup it will be stored in won't now be vacant until next weekend (12/02)...............Pooh !!!!.
I have actually gained 2 Minis from a work colleague that have been sitting on his drive for a while.
One is the 1988 1000 auto that I will be keeping and converting to 1275 manual and generally sorting out with help from my dad and my son (hence the Family Affair).
The other is a Mk3 rolling shell of unknown age with a steel flip front that was going to have all the 1000 auto mechanicals fitted by my work chum, this is being swapped for a 1275 A+ engine and box with a mate who lives in Portsmouth.
His plan is to fit a Renault Clio V6 into the back of the Mk3 Mini shell as he happens to have a spare Clio V6 engine, box and subframe laying around after upgrading his Clio V6 to stupid levels with an ex TWR works engine and lots of expensive looking suspension stuff.
My original plan for the 1000 auto was to go down the "retro" path with 4.5x10's minilites and no arch extensions but the cost of downsizing the front discs has put me off and so it will now stay on 12" wheels (possibly Revolutions) big disks and with arch extensions. The body will stay the original white, this will mean only the outside will need painting and then not need the interior stripping out but it will have a black roof.
I'm calling the car "it" at the moment as when it gets in the garage a name for it will come to me.
I will post some pics tomorrow.
