The new poly exhaust mounts arrived today but I'm to tired to go and fit them after a long day in Hemmell Hempstead.

Calm down calm down......... The plan was to be on the road for the beginning of August and be at Bewl Water for its first show and then go to Minis in the park at Santa Pod later in the month but I don't think the money will stretch that far (boo hoo),but it should be ready to be painted towards the end of August.

Sorry Steven I don't know about that, when I asked Sean about painting my car in late July he said to let him know a week before I wanted it done. Tonight I will fit the poly exhaust mounts then Saturday I'll sort the OSR radius arm, adjust the OSR brake, sort the hand brake then with Lewis' help bleed the brakes so that we will hopefully have a driving car by Saturday evening. Then Sunday we're marshalling at the Beachy Head Bash.

Poly exhaust mounts fitted, you can see how the heavier duty poly mounts raise the back box compared to the standard mounts which were letting it drop down. There's now about a 4mm gap between the top of the exhaust pipe and the hand brake cable guide on the subframe. I've also noticed that the NSR wheel has gained some "tow in" from fitting the negative camber bracket,a quick measure with a vernier that the negative camber bracket has the radius arm pivot pin hole moved forward 3mm hence the tow in. The pivot hole isn't slotted to allow for tow in adjustment but the 2 lower fixing bolts that bolt the bracket to the subframe are slotted. I know from RC car racing that increasing rear tow into increases straight line stability but too much can cause understeer in corners,so the question is HOW MUCH TOW IN DO I NEED.

Haynes recommends 3.17mm toe in at the rear, 1.58mm toe out at the front.

All went to plan today,we sorted the NSR radius arm pin.Once again the old pin was heavily worn and pitted and just replacing the pin has cured the problem. We then fitted the negative camber bracket, adjusted the brake, sorted the hand brake and bled the brakes with an easi-bleed. With all this done it was time to drop the car back on its wheel an then see if it would move under its own steam.......And it does.....yippee. There was no graunching from the gearbox when selecting 1st and reverse and the clutch seemed to work smoothly.

Right, there's been a change of plan....... After much deliberation, chats with Lewis and an impatient desire to be on the road on the 1st of August we've decided to forget the tarty paint job and for the immediate future and go down the "Rat Look" path. We had toyed with various paint ideas including NATO camouflage but the funds are getting short and the current state of the car is screaming Rat Look, it will also mean we can enter into Rat look show classes. So now I'm on the scrounge for some used/rusty bits to complete the job as I threw the old bits away in haste when we started the original project. I need... A pair of bumpers (rusty OK but no sharp edges) A pair of headlight trims/rings (as above) I'll also post this on the "Wanted" board. Can anyone help
