At least it wont rust like the other one .
Had a convertible one in for a MOT last week , failed it . One thing I did notice that will be future problem on them and that is the rubber power steering hose that is located behind the power steering pump under the car at back of engine bay . When on full lock, despite being secured the hose moves side to side and in effect is trying to be pulled out of the swaged on fixings either end . I could see it being pulled as the steering was rocked . This particular car only had a seepage which is a pass and advise . However it will be a issue in future .
Bit of a tip for everyone regarding broken plastic componants . You can weld up plastic cracks with a soldering iron . I have re-worked sections of the Micra dash to fit in my H reg project using a soldering iron to plastic weld .
Do this with caution , I do not want to be held responsible if someone decides to weld up the crack in there Dads S type Jag bumper and cocks it up . ;D

Yep Power Steering failure is common on Bini MK1's I have already had this replaced on mine under warrenty but wonder how long it will be until it goes again Expensive if I have to pay for it myself... could you fit a longer hose N.

Well another update... Many of you know I had the engine managment light flash up on the way to Beaulie which I think was caused by dodgey fuel. Anyway I bought a ScanGaugeII to read & clear the fault codes it also gives a real time read out of things like water temperature and anything on the data bus, which is handy as my car has no temp gauge just a warning light. Heres the gage fitted just below my toggle switches I have it set on amber but it can do 16 colours to match you car lighting: - It should work with any post 2000ish car providing it has an OBDII (On Board Diagnostics) port. cost £120 new on ebay More info can be found here: - www.scangauge.com/N

I hate the new mini's lack of spare tyre. OK so I have 4 run flats which are great as I can drive with a puncture or 3 until I get it repaired (which has happend to me in the past). But tuesday night I had more than a puncture Initial symptoms were funflat indicator comming on to tell me I had a puncture and a strange clicking noise. so I stopped and the looked like this Which is strange because when runflats go flat they still look inflated. On investigation I found this faulty patch in the tyre. Note the rest of the trye (i.e. the other 350 degrees of) tred still seemes OK. no way I was driving home on that... What do you make of that then as there is tread infront of and behind the bald area / hole. is this a faulty tyre of just normal wear I have never seen anything go like this before unless they are total bald of course. Oh and the strange clicking... was the wires that have come out of the inside of the tyre rubbing on the shockabsorber Anythoughts on why my tyre has gone like this... what I can do to stop it reoccuring Anyway so with a tyre like this and no spare I was forced to wait for dad to drive to hayleys house pickup up a spare tyre from another set of wheels and drive an hour from eastboure to crawley just to get me home all in all my journey home on tuesday took 3.5 hours! Now i'm looking to get a set of 17" runflats to put on a new set of wheels I have... any suggestions I love the new minis runflat system... but not always. I just wish they alsom come with a spare. Quick update I have had these Black Mini BBS R90's for a few weeks now I bought them as a replacment for the Replica BBS LM's my car came with when I bought it but I never got round to fitting them as they didn't come with tyres. Following the events of last tuesday though I better get some new tyres and slap 'em on the car. Got me new set of tyres at the weekend Dunlop SP Sport 01 Runflats And now they are on the car Not sure if the black is too over powering but you just dont know what there going to look like until you get them fitted. I Still think the car needs lowering a bit as it looks too high sitting at the standard ride height. Anyone want a set of 17" BBS LM Replicas that need a refurb? N.

Milestone reached...
Last monday my car reached 50K miles. and the only interesting thing I have had to fix I think when you consider it is a heated screen with rain and light sensors built in.

Not bad, but then it's not a cheap car so you'd hope for reliability! Still debating one of these or an Audi A3 for my next car

Just a nice quality car to rack up miles in, considering either a 1.6 Cooper D or an A3 tdi sport. Both about the same price

The new cooper SD looks fun and it does nearly 70 MPG... apparently they are bringing out a JCW D too!

Well Time for another update just hit 64K and had an inspection II service. Its been a busy few months after hitting a deer on the A22 and needing a new front On the plus side I took the opportunity to smooth the front bumper and fit a short front plate. This was followed by getting the rear quarters, door sills pinch strips and boot pinch strip resprayed for corrosion under warranty BMW had the car for best part of 6 weeks! Anyway now it is back I have fitted some AP coil-overs too so its sitting nice and low. Also I'm on the lookout for another set of wheels not sure what to get though but I want something with a deep dish. Maybe some Borbet A's or Classic BBS N.
