Cheers matey! Well that is the million pound question isn't it really! once the engine is done, its a case of: Rebuilding the Gearbox and Transfer case join it all together Take the old engine out sort the engine bay out with a coat of hammerite and probably some grinding action! prepare the rest of the car put new engine back in then sort out all the Megajolt wiring and stuff Bodge the footwell up and put a temporary interior interior back in her
So sometime over the summer i guess it might be back to nearly time for an MOT!

First the bad news....the old tin worm has had its way with the nearside foot well...managed to get a screwdriver through the floor. on the plus side the off side rust was mainly surface, and i have tidied that up, and im pretty happy with the results, that stuff that looks like rust on the red oxided floor, is bits that have come across from the grinding the other side. So probably going to have get one of these welded in... (the image is for the wrong side, but its the only one Minispares have) Done a bit more on the engine, torqued up the sprocket nut and knocked the locktab back, then put on the timing cover, then put put the cam followers in, before doing this i cleaned them, and poured Assembly lube down the holes onto the lobes, and put a bit on the bottom of the followers as well, so hopefully they will bed in nicely. then put on the tappet chest covers. All the red bits are in Red oxide...kinda tempted to keep them red...although...what you reckon?

Na I think you should either do them black or green... as you have gone with a period engine colour. N

Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated! However if your expecting to see more on the new engine, than this update is not for you! However if you are after how the car is at the moment and laugh at previous owners mistakes than continue! How she stands of 7PM today: As you can see from the picture she is missing a bonnet..I wonder why... As you can see there isn't much left in the engine bay, apart from that big thing in the middle...but im on the case of that!! Here is a picture of what's come off today: Did notice this lot of rust, however I've been busy with my favorite big screwdriver and it is all surface, sooo my best friend Red oxide will be making an appearance soon! AND NOW THE PREVIOUS OWNER: Pretty sure this was the most ineffective gearbox steady I've seen: Wow!! and then of course there's this, pretty sure it only goes round one way...and its not this way: That's all Folks P.S. i think im going to do the welding myself! decided to give it a go.....oh dear

Decided to make use of some of my Sunday, the 3 pictures below just make me more and more sure that arch-less is the only way forward...I just love the look, I'm really torn between the Rally side and having some Group 2 arches, or the retro side which of course is arch-less I just don't know! And my favourite, reminds me of a picture of a works mini being worked on.. ohh...and if your wondering it's this thing that is missing... Close up of some of the rust...its not as bad as i expected, and the subby will clean up fine. Engine Bay Half an hour after I did that... Did the brake lines the quick way... Found some areas that need tidying up And then found something that needs doing....Welding, looks like the shock absorber mount is screwed, and im going to have to weld a plate in there! (Hard to see from the above, but I did some work with the trusty screwdriver and was not happy with the strength of the metal left. And finally my plea..... I desperately need a the Key to this locking wheel nut, i can't just hammer a socket on there, as there is a cheeky slipping collar, and i don't want to do too much damage to the wheel etc. etc.....so if anyone has a spare key to this i will happily buy it off you, or borrow it and give it back!

looking good, are you changing the colour or keeping it the same,
it looks quite sound, when you hoping to have it back on the road.

Hey ya, glad to see someone's looking! Yeah overall she is solid, especially the rear end! The colour is staying the same. Its not a colour you see very often so keeping it might be a little different...even the vinyl roof is staying!
Hows your coming...got to take a look at your diary.

got these: For a bargain price... £10...anyone know anything about them? rare? I think they are BWA 10x5 Not sure whether to put them on the car or not, as they are 10x5 and that means I will have to run some kind of arch set up, and I'm still not convinced that arches look good on my mini. also if i put them on, do you think it will suit the retro rally look guys?

You can probably get away without arches on them... only one way to find out ;P
