Project C has been on going.
Shes done 3000 thousand miles in the last couple of months, IMM, trackdays, auto tests, here & there. I changed the oil just before IMM, so a change is due.
She's performed well in the autotests, sadly on arrival at the first test, I broke the hand brake. The bracket sheared from the floor pan. Still managed to come fourth in class, as it was wet. The lack of hand brake helped, by forcing me to drive slower and wider, therefore under better control and faster around the course. Crazy! ;D
Welded that up the following evening. That plate is not going the come off again. ;D ;D ;D
The second auto test went well. Wet again, but the first rounds lessons and the handbrake allowed me to pull off some great side slides and won the front wheel drive class. That moke driven by the auto test legend Kevin is my goal to compete with. Some way to go before I challenge him!
Slapped a couple of new Yoko A539's on the front for a track day a couple of weekends ago. Cheers for getting them fitted Paul They Really did well on the track, although Paul was faster with his lower gearing, the odd hour we had pushing Ferrari's around the corners was great.
Managed to get the oil temperature up to an all time high of 111 degrees C, the idle oil pressure was only 7psi and struggled to read 25psi up the rpm. Normally 15psi at idle, 45psi at 3500rpm with 70 to 80 deg C. Hearing some nasty noises when the engine is cold within the first minute of running. Think this ebay engine is a time bomb.
Repaced all the ball joints, as greesing them was no long hiding the play. I cleaned and retightened the wheel bearings before IMM and they still felt fine, so left them alone. Still a know under load. Will check the mounts next.
Sadly, early on the Pilgrimage I became the only casualty..
Another mini shunted me from behind but thankfully at very low speed. Just the boot a my bumper got it. I cannot find any ripple in the boot floor, valance, rear seat or bulkhead. Very luck. So its a nice and simple repair. Thankfully
Auto test Friday, I picked up a new toy last week, a steering wheel knob. So now I can drive the autotest with only one hand on the steering wheel and the over on the hand brake. Cant wait to see the result.
