Just fitted a new speedo... sensor off the drive shaft pot, handy that old wiper rack... One very trendy speedo with a trip accurate to 100th of a mile!

Rated upto 185mph! I managed 69.2mph so far. But when your average speed is 30mph to 23mph on a regularity run it does just fine. ;D

Two cable ties around the drive shaft pot. Not to sure about the accuracy as we arrived early at all our timed check points last Sunday.
Will take it along the marked mile on the Pevensey Bypass.

Paul & I calibrated the trip today.. Went down to the Pevensey petrol station on the by-pass, then headed west towards Polegate. About 100mtrs after the roundabout is a white post with some yellow rings, a mile post. We stopped and zeroed the trip. Pulled away upto 60mph and drove a mile up to the next post on the left. Pulled up to the post and stopped to check the trip, 1.00 mile. Think the £14 trip does the job! ;D Passed Chandlers in Hailsham to shout some abuse (Paul did) at the new 'Clubman', launched today, even stopped for a look. Not bad, not bad at all. We proceeded back to Heathfield to bolt on extra lighting and some interior lights to assist Paul with Navigating on the 12 car rally tomorrow evening. All in now, I even managed to fix the standard interior light. Funny though, when all the new lights are on, the rpm really does drop..

Apart from the poor rear end handling discovered at castle coombe, the duckling has been quite reliable.... until now. it started Monday with the cold snap, it just wont hold that perfect idle its had since been set-up by Gerald Dale. I assume the points need looking at or something clock work needs winding back up Wednesday morning, pulling onto Heathfield high street in the Duck, 1st gear okay, 2nd gear pea soup, all gears soup! Assuming it was just the linkage roll pin, in pulled back the gear stick for 2nd or lucky 4th. 2nd to limp home or 4th to slip the clutch to work. 4th it was, no problem getting to work. Lunch time diagnostics found the roll pin in place. Could it be the gearbox??? Had Dave sold be a dud??? Thats when I discovered the linkage wasn't moving when the stick was moved. A failure in the remote housing of all places!! 4th gear just about got up the hill from Uckfield to Heathfield and 19:15. Saturday morning was 'bodge it' day, a spare remote linkage was dropped in. A post mortem discovered a two pieces of a roll pin (Should to one) had given up and fallen out from the rod to gear stick fork. One roll pin will bring that back into life for another day! I also connected up the heated inlet manifold into the heater. Initially with a washing machine hose. SO when its cold and I've got the heater on, the manifold is hot. In aid of warming the manifold to preventing carb icing and help the fuel air mix to atomise the fuel into the air. Hopefulling the scource of my recent running problems. Great for cold weather but not performance.. Else next is the feeler gauge and all that not ECU stuff. The washing machine hose held out over the weekend held out, but a drop in at Halfords soon replaced it with a 1/2inch heater hose. Let see what happens this week!
