It's great to see so many comments and contributions about how you feel about the club.
I feel it is a shame that it has had to come to this for people to show some enthusiasm.
I have been an active member of the club since the very first meeting and have had a hand in helping the club to grow.
The last couple of years have seen more people joining the club, but fewer actively contributing to the general running and organising. I am not pointing the finger of blame as I am as much at fault as anyone.
I have tried for the past two years to get members enthusiastic about our annual charity event the Pilgrimage, but numbers were down this year and the fundraising was a struggle at times. A lot of time and effort goes into organising this event but without your support it will not continue.
As Simon and Martin Mc pointed out, we are a well known club in the mini scene and famous for our exuberance, but it only seems to be evident at the big events.
The committee try to cater to everyone in the club, whether you want to do London to Brighton or local shows such as Senlac or Bexhill. Unfortunately, not everybody can attend every event for a variety of reasons, such as work or financial commitments, but we do as many as we can. I also appreciate that some people are part of the club for other reasons such as technical support and know-how.
If there are any events you want to do, just speak to the events co-ordinator or stand up and speak at a meeting or put a post on here. It's as easy as that!! If people are interested in going they will let you know.
The reason I have decided to stand down as secretary for 2010 is due to the lack of enthusiasm shown, particularly with regard to the Pilgrimage, as previously mentioned. I intend remaining an active member and will help the new committee in any way I can, but I feel it is time for a rest for me and fresh blood to drive the club forward.

Is it my turn now....? ;D Being part of this club over the past 4-5 years has been great & has certainly made me some great friends over that time - no matter how much they take the mick or trick me (no mentioning names... Jim) But this year has been a little difficult, as Shawn says, people are tightening their belts. I know we've done the same & it doesnt help when you haven't got your mini on the road. I also admit that I've not done as much for the club this year, (as I prommised), as I have done in the past . I really enjoyed doing the newsletter previously up until last year when my spare time became short. With current work load, & especially the problems I've encountered with work this year, I've found that club committed time has been limited again. People need to remember that the committee have always been volunteers, & the majority, (if not all,) have full time jobs. If certain things arent supported or we have little feedback to help, then it can be disheartening - because people will put in so much effort & may not feel it's worth doing if no one seems bothered by it. Fresh members for the committee - for some fresh ideas & fresh enthusiasum. Those who have been doing a lot of hard work for the past 5 years could probably do with the break I agree with Martin in that things should be discussed at a club meeting. (Some already know my ideas on this) As we work up to the AGM then subject matters & discussions should be raised at the next club meet so the current committee can put an agenda together. At the September Club meeting (after main speech) I'll be chairing a Pilgrimage 2010 micro meet session to start planning for this. 2009's Pilgrimage was brilliant this year , & we hope to do the same again, however this year we had less cars than the year before.... why is that? (retorical question, dont need answers right now ) I've got some ideas for next year that I hope to implement, I'm sure some members will have some too, & hope they will help share them . I've shared the rest of my thoughts with some members already, so hopefully they know that I am still willing to support wherever I can.

I thought you might like a little feedback from an "ordinary member"... I joined in January having just brought my mini, not knowing anyone and I've found the club to be friendly and well organised. It's always difficult for the people running an organisation that is volantary to get commitment from it's members and EDMC is no different. Now the bad bits, the monthly meet lacks enthusiasum and can feel very "cliquey", and to finish on the good bits, loved the pilgramige well organised and fun, the forum is good for keeping up with news and everybody is so helpfull of members in trouble with their cars, I read the latest postings most days, sad I know. Finally if something needs doing and you need help why don't you have request for help spot on the forum.

ive been with club about 10 months. i was formally a member of a neighbouring club. in conparison i think the clubs got good foundations to build on. as allways there is room for inprovment in club meets show organiation etc but these are things that can be sorted with a little passon and people that have the time for the extra input. in other words if your hearts not in it you should do it this is just my view of things. i find it very disturbing that i go to the small local shows and there is eather a very small turnout from edmc with no promoting tools eg banner or no turn out at all. should we not be attending these in greater numbers club bonding and promoting edmc handing out flyers getting new blood I think what u need to think about is not everyone one does every single show or the same shows u might have done bexhill and i did laughton it was a small turn out but was good and will be doing laughton next weekend we also had a fantastic turn out for eastbourne motor show lots of new faces :)as for flyers they are available for any member to print off as i do try and take some when i do shows, also the banner gazebo and tea box is also available from members to use if they are doing a show and i am not attending just send a pm . lisax
