Dear Edmc World,
As asked in the feedback received from a member. (shown below)
As chairman and a member of EDMC all newbies should be made to feel welcome. weather they have a vast knowedge of minis or not. One of the purposes of myself to start EDMC was so that i could ask Questions and advice from like minded people who may or maynot have a bigger knowledge of our little car.
Yes sometimes there is a silly question, and no doubt i have asked a few. And we all like a banter.
Please for EDMC to keep going like it has we need them newbies.
At the moment members are free to join this forum as and when they wish. But if i feel and others feel the need to, new members will have to be Confirmed first.
FEEDBACK RECEIEVED
Would you in your capacity as chairman like to put up something to stop the silliness that is going on? Can you also restate the purpose of the club and the fact that we are here to be encouraging and enthusiastic as opposed to being negative and sarcastic. People such as alice/kate are dearly needed by the club so lets not turn them away?
Also Please we need your feedback via PM or email or face to face, o we can keep EDMC a great place to be
Darren Chairman

I have had more feedback about manners, so here i go-
Please and thank you's go a long way, but are often missed when requesting help or receiving it.
Club members are more than happy to offer advice and assistance, quite often for free, but the appreciation isn't always there.
We have a vast array of experience within the club and can offer advice on most topics.
We like to have a bit of banter and our main web page does say - "Please note the forum is a place to express veiws and of discussion, please do not take offence from silly comments or make direct personal insults (Until we know you that is!)"

SHOCK HORROR 218 Forum members and sill no feedback. Maybe its time for a brand new committee all together. The club has been run by the same people since the club started and it ( i'm sorry to say ) seems to be going backwards. Its lost its fun side ;D ;D ;D i'm giving up the Newsletter next year ( never was in Josie's league ) because like Rachel i would like to take a backseat and try and enjoy the club again. Hopefully there are members in the club that will step forward and form a committee. We need some fresh blood to bring back the fun side. Sorry to say it Daz but maybe time for a new Chairman i know your hearts not been in it of late. Sorry mate but i would not be me if i did not say it as i see it

;Dhehe,
As said running upto AGM that ALL comitee roles are available,
i would of stepped down a couple of years ago if anyone had put there name forward for chairperson role.
I would be happy to pass the keys over if any one wants to put there name forward please do.
the long shot is, i did my bit getting everybody to the first meet, and im really proud of the club, even the last couple of years even tho they not been good ones.
And yes my heart hasent been it for a while now, but i got great support from various members that have kept me going.
Even tho Roger is gonna dissapear for a while i will still be an active member, and more than happy to ferry stuff around to shows that i attend in the future.

have to agree with most of what you say tony, katy and i have only been members for a year now and the club certainly feels stale.however we`ve only really met a handfull of members and it is of course those members who seem to give all their time and effort to supporting this club.. where are all the other members? come on people, support your club,we desperatly need input whats good, whats bad!!THE CLUB CAN ONLY GET BETTER IF MEMBERS HELP

hello all
i feel the same the club feels like it has gone a bit flat over the past 2 years,
i have been part of the club from the begining but in the back ground ,we only started to get involed and being part of the club from when we went to the riv run 2008.never been away with any of the club before , only chatted odd mini related things at meets, thats all, still didnt know may people very well. but i made the effort to joined in and, not just sat in the tent but they made me feel welcome did not ever make me feel singled me out, nice and helpful. and over all had a great laugh
i know everyone has different circumstances and priorities and maybe cant make every show, every meet, etc etc we all joined the club for our own reasons , i have mine and since getting more involved in the club mine has changed for the better
a committee change maybe be a good idea to let someone new feel there doing something to make the club run , and it may boost the club again
we need feedback from as many memebers as possible to see how they see the club and how it could be improved, boast it back up again, and make it a bigger and better club than its ever been.
so please spend 5 minutes and write your bit, it will be really helpful,

i do understand that the people that have been on the committee from the start do deserve a well earned break but i,m afraid i have had a fantastic 3 years full of fun and made some really good friends ,i don,t see very much wrong with the club . it is frustrating 218 member,s and only the core members do most of the event,s but the way i look at it is we are the one,s having all the fun they are the one,s missing out. we need to stop thinking we need big number,s to have fun we don,t ! most show,s we have a good turn out of people and always,s have a great time . which is why we are all here slightly confused matt

OK folks Shawn and Gemma here , we have been members since the very first meets in a little pub near polegate, can we say every moment we have shared with the club has been memorable , special most importantly fun !! I enjoy helping people out with advise and of course as most of you know physically with issues members may of had with their cars regardless of age or looks i will continue to do so without predjudice as this is something i enjoy doing a lot. There seems to be an awful lot of what would be called (sleeper) members whom we do not see from one end of the year to the next for whatever reasons yes it would be nice to see them 'get involved' more often but please every one don't be down hearted about this the guys and girls whom do step into the breech make a difference and thats what counts doesn't it ?. I personally have other interests as well i am a radio ham and belong to a couple of radio related clubs sorry to say it is a problem seen across the board .we have all had to ride the wroth of a recession which has been hard on every one and sorry to say leisure is one of the criteria which has suffered on tight budgets. Alas the sit on backside and play with the computer era has come from this and it is an unfortunate side effect of the above is the odd Berk !!remember it takes all sorts to make our ever shrinking world. now for a bit of wisdom ...... An important lesson i gained from an elder was to be tolerant in whatever pursuit you are following so maybe this advice needs to be absorbed by a few and then we can all get on better in the future. like Matt above slightly confused but happy with life ..........................................................................................................................................maybe its senility ?

I'm aware of a few peeps who want to step forward and some already are trying to getting involved. With little encouragement, support or direction. I will mention names if you don't come forward... :-P
Sorry Daz, but the club needs someone with the energy to chair the club and help co-ordinate the committee. A loss of momentum from the committee has reflected in the club. That energy needs to come from the top.
But folks, do look at L2B 2009 and the Pilgrimage. When the few do get into motion, the club can really go there. EDMC has built a national reputation as a friendly, loud, bold and initiative club. Something we should be all be proud of. Some fresh blood at the helm with the support of the experienced 'old guard' could really pick up that momentum again.
My concern is the lack of club basics to build the club up towards the big events. Simple fun. When was our last evening/Sunday cruise or just a picnic meet to save fuel? Nobody really breaks the ice at club meets but at shows/events. It just takes one peep to pick a date, time, place & plan. Anyone can do it. Oh and keep it simple! :-)
Next, the committee need to get together monthly to keep in touch, stay on the ball, motivate and support each other.
Would love to be involved more, but I like others have strayed into other clubs, hobbies and even region! So I'll just have to be a critic for now and look forward to taking part in EDMC adventures over the next few years. ;D

I was going to post a reply to this but it got more lengthy and rambling and I began to realise that this is a subject that needs real discussion by real people in the form of a proper meeting. That could be either at a regular club night or a specially convened EGM. This is something very fundamental to the future of the Club and whilst forum messages are ok for brief comment, they are no substitute for a proper debate. Apart from anything else, not everyone has access to, or makes use of the forum. I'm sure we could have a meeting on the current state and future direction of the Club without it descending into a slanging match....This Club has become a real name on the Mini scene, far in excess of its size and resources, and we are rightly proud of it....Remember what was said about our cheers at the L2B presentation? I think we were described as '..the loudest club in the country' or similar..! Let's not let that slip away. Best wishes to all. Martin Mc.

Well I'm still having fun... Just wish I had a few more people to talk to on the forum! Also I like the idea of more cruises and BBQs etc. Finally 218 is probably just the number of registered members on the forum not actual club members. we used to go through and delete the dormant accounts. is that something we need to do again N
