Been with club since club meet number 2 ;D Been there. mad some friends. done it . organised it. got drunk. won it . dressed up as a cowboy. got on stage. danced replaced bypass hose at 1am in the morning drunk in a field. joined commitee. made more friends . did l2b pitstop challenge. got in the mag. taken kids to the proms. got you all going to Riv Run. been on the Miniworld mag stands. Got you all going to brooklands. won it with others. got others to go . they enjoyed it . had fun . got you all going to Castle combe. mad loads of mates . laughed a lot. taken the piss. had the piss taken. given help and advice. asked for help and advice. been on comittee . talked to a room full of blank faces about events. resigned from comittee . All things I have done in , with , for the club and because of being in the club and owning my mk1 . No regrets . Not one person I wouldnt talk too, all great people with one thing in common at least . The MINI . I agree with ALL the previous posts . The Chairman and committee have been going virtually unchanged for 5 years , the guys need a break . We need fresh committee members and a fresh chairman . This needs discussing at September meet not AGM in a few months when people may not be about in middle of winter . If discussed now people have a bit of time to think about joining the committee and what they can bring to the club . People need geeing up or there will be a see of blank faces at AGM , roles will not get filled and we are back to where we started . Perhaps the person who gave you feedback in your first post Daz would like to do something on the commitee . Sillyness refers to the forum I guess . The forum is the forum . So much is said on here but no-one wants to repeat things at club meets . Ignore the forum , its not a serious place , read the disclaimer on its home page.. Sorry DAZ but you will need to get off your arse for one more time and Chair the September meet to sort this out .

wow, if the enthuiasm for the events was as strong as the enthusiasm for this thread, the thread would never have been posted I have no idea about clubs as I have never joined one before, but as a newbie i think i see with fresh eyes and the club didnt meet the expectations i assumed it would. i would willingly put myself up to join the commitee, and would love to be a part of the moving forward vision. just remember i have no clue of what to do, where to go, how to promote, but id be happy to support and do my bit under guidance. unfortunatley i have no internet for the next few weeks so only get to keep in touch when im at my parents. incase people think i stirred a pot then walked away to let it boil. on this note, i didnt mean to rubbish the club or anyone or cause ill feelings, i simply feel passionate about the mini and wanted it to be celebrated on a parr to the passion i feel, and clearly the passion that others also feel. maybe the committee needs a sub committee for the "passionate forward vision" people. it could be the "PuFFs" lol just trying to bring some light hearted thoughts back.

Tony, I totally agree with what you have said about the passion. I have felt very strongly about the club for 5 years and have put a lot of my time and effort into improving it and trying to make it fun for all. Unfortunately, as I said previously, there have been more people joining but fewer offering to help. It seems to be "all take and no give" which makes it hard for those who do feel strongly to get themselves motivated when faced with little or no response....the Pilgrimage being a prime example.

It's a pity that more people didn't attend the Pilgramige I agree, but that was their loss 'cause everyone who did attend had a great day. If you really enjoy your Mini any excuss to drive it has got to be good one. If the commitee do feel stale, then of corse they must stand down and let others have a crack, the only concern that I have is if they step down on mass, the incoming commitee will struggle to maintain the status quo let alone move the club forward...

wow, if the enthuiasm for the events was as strong as the enthusiasm for this thread, the thread would never have been posted this statement hits the nail on the head, plenty of people saying i do this i have done that, well guess what it's, what you are meant to do, joining a club shows your passion and love for the mini, the members make a club and members should be saying what they want, can you say to members you can only be in the club if you go to shows? NO. not every one wants to go to shows or afford it, it's human nature, the impression i am getting is blame the chairman perhaps we should all look up what a chairmans role is, and that is to chair a meeting not to suggest anything he is ruled by the members and the committee. as with many clubs around the country you will see the same faces and cars just different venue fresh beer and new laughs.

Yes it looks like there are a lot of posts but I think only 5 (real) club members who have posted something have had no actual involvment with the commitee in the past , the rest are either on the commitee or were on it .... plus Jim ;D .
Even so its great that those EDMC members who have posted have bothered to say something .

I have only been a member since Feb 08, so not as long as most, and i try to get to what i can with the nature of my job and with my racing in the summer, i try to balance the two and been very lucky this year with mini shows and race meetings not clashing! But it is a shame not to see new members attending the shows, not saying that the same old faces are not company, because they are and they are some of the best and funniest people i have ever met! Without some of the 'regulars' the weekends away, (riv run, L2B camping, IMM etc.) they would not be as entertaining if you went on your own! Going away on a weekend is the best way you will get to know people within the club and makes the experience much better in the future. I've got to know so many great people with the same interest in my short time as a member, and joining EDMC was the best decision and best way to enjoy my mini and attend what i can despite the distance i live from Eastbourne itself, but wouldn't change that for the world. So for those of you that want to get to know people, then get involved, its the only way, or else the club will end up stale as their will be no new faces to take on this brilliant club and members which still has a lot to give. before you joined tony i think,of course there are events etc that go on that lisa is unaware of,and if peoplle dont say then they cant be organised. although it seems alot of feedback has been left on this subject there doesnt seem to be much positivity in taking the club forward.the way i see it is that the club has achieved recognition in the mini world there are some great people in the club obviously every club has its plonkers!!! edmc has done itself proud over the last 5 years and that is down to ALL members regardless of how you support the club.personally,i think all members should be having their say, however it seems like its the same people over again. the way i see it is you dont want to do events, or cant whatever your reasons its your loss we will still be doing bthem and having a great time especially now with the affro challenge ;D ;D ;D

But the ones we do, we do enjoy ;D But we can share the events with the events co-ordinator who can then pass on the message and ensure someone fronts the event. That person can organise the banner, meeting times and place etc etc etc. So its not just the committee who run the club.... This does go on already, but some events slip the net. Just a reminder that the good lady Lisa is the events co-ordinator (a doing a grand job at that)
