another weekend working on the car, before i could get the inner and outer sills on i need to make sure everything else was solid, one problem i needed a passanger floor pan, quick call to jim and he had a spare so saturday i popped over and picked it up. bit of tinkering and i got it to fit quite well and welded it in and also done the patch at the back, today i cleaned up the welds and grinded the flat and sprayed them with zinc spray to stop the rust, did not get as much as i wanted to do but at least i go something done.

had a weekend of grinding and welding again. during the week i rang a friend of a friend who does panel beating and spraying to find out how much it would cost to get my doors re skinned and the bottoms replaced, will it was a bit higher than what i through so i decided have to do most of the work, then he can just hammer the skins on so friday , half day of work then started on the first door grinded off the old skin, drilled out a few spot welds holding it to the bottom odd the door bin and trimed it so it would fit the new panel, clamped it in place and spoted it on, had to do a bit of panel beating to make it fit right then more welding, saturday i grind flat and smooth and then grinded off the other door skin. today i fixed my spot welder ( what a releif) then more grinding, banging and welding, grinding , welding, grinding till it was right, striped all the other bits out the door frames, quick coat in zinc spray, done tomorrow they are going down the blasters for blasting and acid etch prime, fingers crossed i can pick them up friday to take them to have the skins put on.

for the rest of the week i work 5 out the 7 day on the mini
spent 11-12 hour stripping off the undersill from my floor, front and back arches and bulkhead, what a lovely job, but now its done and i took it all back to bare metal with the help of nitromores paint striper,
i also got my inner and outer sills welded on and spot welded along the seams , sorted out the other rear seat repair, and the spare wheel well, does not sound like much , but the amount of prep i had to do before i could fit the innersill was mad, made sure that before i fitted the outersill that i gave it several coats of zinc primer to stop the rust and made sure verything was good before it was covered up
once all the welding work is done its going to be blasted back to bare metal then primed.
also got my crank back from being grinded 20/20 so now i can build the engine after seeing stephans post about his box got me thinking, as the remote box i have for the mk1 that i am rebuilding , 2nd gear has gone so i need to replace it, but in the shed i has a newly rebuilt straight cut rod box with a 4 pin diff, sitting there not getting used, had a quick look on the mini spares website and the gearsets are the same for a rod and remote so i will be stripping that down and building it up for the mk1 so i am happy as i love the sound of a straight cut box
photos to come once i have uploaded them to photobucket.

julie got a letter from the council yesterday, saying that someone has complained about the noise, of Grinding, banging, sanding and reving of engine
reving of engines, the bloodly things a shell and the engine is in bits and why would i sit there reving an engine, i am not some boy racer who has a 1.1 rusty fiesta with a 4" exhaust making a horrible noise, thinking there the muts nuts
but hey its not going to stop i need to get the car done asap it must of been last week when i was on holiday, looks like someone needs to get a job and stop complaining,

not much has happened to the shell for the last few week, but i have started the build up my engine i have my pistons and crank in going to start to put in the cam and timing bits.
also brakes and total stripped and degreased and i have bought new CV's, bearing, ball joints, piston seals and s/s pistons, new pads, discs have loads of meat left, nuts bolts and screws
also ordered a new steering rack, rebuild kit for my brake and clutch master cylinders, new SU fuel pump, new top hat for the primary gear,
fingers crossed once i have a good weekend free and not going to shows i can really get on with it, its just the welding and body work that is holding up the rebuild and thats down to me,
also the complaint from the council have been dropped they do not think i am running a bussiness from julies house nor think the noise i am making is effecting the way they live so they can not do anything, they were just following the book as its what they have to do, they said dont worry about it,
when i have got a little more done i post some photos
