just test fitted the drivers door again, after i had already fitted it months ago,
and oh, i glad i did as it does not come close to matching the other side,
so more work to do on that , than what i thought. if i leave it i end up knocking the paint off everytime i open the door

well its still not gone to paint. not been in the mood, and if i not it the mood and work on the car i end up doing something wrong, and get more fed up but i have had a few parts sorted out. many people will think why, what's the point, its fine as it is, but i dont think like that, i go right into the most littlest detail, as i have with this whole build, ( thats why its taken so long) i am using a remote gearbox and with them you have a shaft that comes out the diff housing for the selector, well that shaft had about 1 mm odd of play. some thing that most people would leave it, it has its own grease nipple and is not part/sharing the engine oil so wont leak but i was not happy with it. i took it down to fabian at alpha met, he made me 2 new bushes out of silcone bronze, so they fitted the casing, and also each bush is made to fit each end of the shaft so its a perfect fit with NO play. he also added a O ring on the top bush,to wipe the shaft of grease before it pushes up and this will also stop dirt getting it absolutely brilliant job, and something that is a bit different, not done at the factory with the seal, but improving the original to make it better fingers crossed there will be a difference when it comes to changing gear and have a firm gear change

i was going to post much about the mk1 untill it come out of paint and was on its wheels, as this stage is boring, lots of time spent but nothing to show for it. but for the first time in over 3 year, i now have the boot, bonnet and doors fitted with all equal gaps and at the stage i am happy with also fitted my grill moustache with corners. they are from mini spares and the fit is very good, its so close to going to paint just a last few niggly bits so its right and it can go on the next dry day excuse the mess

I may put it in a few show and shines etc and see what happens, compared to some of the cars I have seen and the panel gaps, fit and finish of the parts and panels, there not been many that are good
There was a nice clubman at bingley hall. It's was spotless. Mirrors underneath Everything colour matched, but the boot on the top corner was just about touching the boot opening and the boot was a pattern panel , the corners were like a 50 pence piece, all that trouble getting the paint spotless and the panel gaps and door fits were cr4p
It maybe me being arsey but it's the small things which count .
With my car it's me being a perfectionist, not to impress anyone just to keep me happy. I like my car to be right. Or it will bug me
Thanks for all your kind words it's very close to going to paint just a few small bits o sort out.

I saw it again today , first time since loading it for blasting and he really is about there . All gaps are brilliant, however being the founder member of AFDG they should be . As usual we talked for 2 1/2 hours , he really has gone into detail with getting the panels to line up . Trim and fittings have had new holes drilled and trim test fitted.
Brilliant Dean . Looking forward to helping you fit those frames next.
Dont forget to give the bodyshop that drivers side rear lamp .
