Why is it that as soon as you fix one problem another one appears
I have noticed recently that Bogey's clutch has been slipping. I went round to Shawn's earlier in the month to get it fixed and to learn how it's done at the same time ;D ;D ;D
As you can see from these pictures..........I had a bit of an oil leak
Unfortunately, we soon discovered that whoever had changed the clutch previously had damaged the threads of the holes that the flywheel puller attaches to. After trying a few ideas, we gave up and put everything back together with the intention of taking the engine out another day and cutting the flywheel out.
Well today was the day ;D we soon had all the bits unbolted and were back to where we had been stuck previously. One of the suggestions we had been given was to weld the flywheel puller bolts to the flywheel to stop them from coming loose. After some deliberation, we decided that this was the lesser of two evils, so Shawn set about cutting away bits of the the clutch pressure plate so he could get a good weld.
Then it was time to start welding ;D
Sadly, the welds didn't hold too well first time and had to be repeated, but eventually, under great pressure the pressure plate finally came away ;D ;D
It was now, as we began putting the new clutch together, that we realised that no tapered boss had been included with the kit. Aparently they are no longer available The old one would not be of any use as it had the butchered flywheel puller holes.
If anyone has a tapered boss that I could beg, borrow or steal Shawn and I would be very grateful ;D..........as Bogey won't be going anywhere without one and I expect Shawn would like his garage back too
