Had a bit of a push to get everything I need to get the car finished. Obviously you never remember everything. As I've swapped back to a normal pedal box and cylinders for simplicity and to save some cash, I decided to paint up the old metal sandwich plate. Quite frankly, it looked shite, especially as I'm not using the steady bar mount anymore. So DSN Classics made me this: Always recommend DSN, will go out of their way to help and it's always good stuff.

Decided to scrap the dash switch panel as I couldn't reach any of the switches when strapped in. Could be a real pain to undo the harness if it stalls on a trackday or stuck across a main road etc. So here's the new switch panel on the crossmember. Not wired up yet but you get the idea. Also had the exhaust system back from Zircotec. They ceramic coated the whole lot, it apparently works even better than insulating exhaust wrap. Also fitted some of their ceramic backed foil on the carbon at the back for heat protection. Got the exhaust mounted really high and out the way, hence the big cut out.

Believe me it is a pain with harness on . It is easier with a switch panel closer. Have you tried pressing the new buttons whilst strapped in ? Also had the exhaust system back from Zircotec. Yep, they're in a good position there. You can't really fit toggle switches as you'd knock them with your legs and probably end up breaking them so flush fit are the way to go. Extremely over priced but look the business

Made a new battery cut off box with a small PVC box from Maplins and a budget cut off switch. Excuse the messy insulation tape above the heatshrink, looks better in the flesh. Lowered the rear down onto blocks to put the body weight on the suspension and hopefully settle the cones in a bit. Needs to come down by another two inches, geometry adjustments and maybe some thin spacers. Also got the seats bolted down. Needed to make new brackets and offset the seats slightly to get the drivers side in the right place. The rollcage makes aligning them symmetrically quite difficult so I'm trying it like this first off.

The Odessey ones are about 2-3 times the price but they're half the weight, have a ten year service life and don't go flat after six weeks in the garage. Good for a weekend car

Was thinking of wrapping the lower dash rail in matching vinyl to completely blank off the switch panel. Opinions?
Can hide the ignition key out of sight and fit a longer choke cable down to the gear linkage mount.

After making grand plans for a DIY wiring loom, I've decided it's all far too confusing and to just modify the one I have. Only problem is there are quite a few connectors I don't need so I've asked Autosparks for a quote to modify the loom for me. Wiring diagrams are bloody confusing!

I've barely touched the car since last year - quite tricky now I live on the other side of the country. Each weekend I go home, which is not particularly often now, most of my time is spent cursing non-standard parts that don't fit. It's ok when you can just order another bit to arrive in the week, but each part that needs sending back puts me back by another fortnight. So yeah, lost a bit of enthusiasm. Still plan to finish and keep it obviously - too much time and money invested to sell up. Anyway here's my new daily drive: stephencolbran.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/RollingRoad.m4vBefore you think it's a chav's car, honestly the most fun I've ever had behind the wheel. Brilliant thing.
