;D ;D ;D
As most of you have probulary guessed i will be using Minkie within the next couple of weeks until Roger has come out of hiding.
The past couple of weeks i have been out in the cold trying to get Minkie ready for his MOT.
First job was to sort the non- working wipers. So disconnected the wire thinghy and tested the motor, was a bit slow so took that apart and cleaned up, found the brushes wernt to clever. Took them out and spun them around so there was a bit more contact for the shaft. Will be replacing these with the ones i found in Mingie 2 at some point.
Next i took the wheel thingys of and started cleaning them up, first one was alright, but second one was ceased solid, So again Mingie 2 supplied spare parts.
Cleaned and regreased all mechanisms and now they work but i reakon they will work better when i have changed the brushes.
Next job was the hazards. Nice simple job this was, Nicked switch and relay off Plan B for MOT. Sorted
Then we had the running problems, After a few hours of trying different things Help was called in form of Mr. Shawn. Found the problem to be The coil was breaking down under pressure, and points had worn away due to not having little bit of sponge to lubricate. Out came the hacksaw and points were modified to get correct gap. Got Minkie running great with the help of Plan B's coil.
Tony ordered new coil, points, and condenser. Put the coil on and decided that points could wait until MOT was done as it seemed to be running fine.
Saturday went round and cleaned Minkie up to make him look a bit more respectable and took him and down the road to make sure he drove alright. The carburetter was now backfiring. so a little fine adjustment on the mixture nut solved this ;D Tahnks for bacon sarnie Rachel and Tony.
This Morning picked Minkie up for trip to MOT station. Started first time and started our short journey via the dual carrigways to blow any cobwebs out. backfiring from the carb again, but 2 mintues down the road nothing so put it down to been cold.
arrived at station and went of for tea and coffee.
Minkie failed his MOT
1.Offside sill hs some eccesive corrosion - 4 small holes that need patching up.
2. Boyh tie/rod bars severley distorted
3. Exhaust braket by gearbox missing.
So all in all not bad. more news soon
