I dont have any fuel leeks but then I'm using an electric pump mounted on the bulkhead and the pickup fuel tank is under the load bed so a different setup. I have had mine out on a short run hence I found out about carb icing but I think I will blank off that section of the grill and distributor. it will probably overheat then N.

hi all, was trying to work out why my mini felt so spongy when cornering. and i have found that my front subframe has strangely worn excessively around the lower arm pin, (its the bit that has the flat side on to lock it against the frame, i could rotate it 360 degrees and it had 1mm play either side ) so decided a full front rebuild and whilst im at it im going to paint my bulkhead so it matches my bright green paint.anyway heres some pics a fresh coat of grey stone chip primer, just inner wings and inside of a panels to do before the green goes on. fresh coat of paint on suspension arms and steering rack. picked up my new (second hand) subframe today from the powder coater only cost me 50 quid to get it shot blasted and powder coated. looks like new next job order a full poly bush set and some heavy duty adjustable tie bars. more pics to follow.

Will look good when its finished. I wish I had painted my engine bay when I had the engine fitted but I was short on time so it just got a coat of black hamerite
That should look good when its done

i hope so. but found this today when removed the shock mount to prep the inner wing for painting this is the worst side the other is corroded but not as bad, but both sides will require welding.

yeh just about got my head around it. just hope iv done it right lol. hmmm not sure when it'll be ready, hopefully picking my stage 4 head up this weekend. i want to fit a centre main strap, i know i need to get the centre cap machined flat, but can i just remove the centre one on its own or is something you do evenly i.e undoing alll the crank bolts and then doing them all back up evenly? matt

Centre main strap maybe an good idea for you. You should be able to undo the centre main cap on it's own and leave the rest. But only buy one which uses the orignal holes and does not need any more drilling. There normal cheap. But get a good one. I found a little local engreering company who grinded mine flat.
Just keep everything very clean and make sure it goes back the same , bearings, main cap. Re oil it. And touque it up correctly and it should be fine. I alway double and tripple check with my touque rench. Clean the treads of the bolts. Use locktight as well.
Wrap it in a bag went apart and left and make sure NO dirt, metal, grinding , etc. gets on it. It sounds extreme but your hate it if you bolt it up and that tiny bit of metal wrecks your engine.
