The ducks covered a couple of thousand miles already! Averaging 36mpg and keeping up with the middle lane traffic on the motorways Classic issues, the darn wax stat on the HS4 carb does not close fully with the choke. So I have to pop the front and lift it up to save the mpg. A HIF38 will be slapped on shortly thanks Martin. Just need to rebuild that first with some new seals. I've acquired a late mini metro dizzy with the built in electronic ignition. The current dizzy is a little worn and scatty. I think with the HIFF and an hour of Gerald's time should see an improved mpg and release soem more torque Still not found a judder in the brake, need to swap the other hub assembly over now to eliminate that. The ducks notorious over steer has been resolved, binning those falkans at the back for Yoko A008. The back end now grips a treat, back to under steer now Adjustable front suspension and a setup me thinks... Na only joking. Just a turbo to fit now...

Thought I'd pop the flip front to check the fluids before heading the ace cafe.... Last night the heater was playing up, I imediatley assumed an airlock from a low coolant level.
I was right, the darn water pump is leaking from the seals... some 'rad seal' has been dropped in, fingers crossed it will hold until the new pump arrives next week.
Then I noted a rather strong smell of fuel.... a leaking fuel pump. Well thats fixed now anyway. Fitted a replacement with some new pipe clips.
So I threw in an oil change as I'd missed the Ace Cafe. Still forgot to grease the nipples doh.
Nice to be kept on my toes.

The ducks done me proud, 2500miles since the MOT last November. Regualar trips to Guildford and even Birmingham this weekend are returning 41mpg, thats when I hold back at 70mph on the motorway. Sure I could get more with fitting the HIFF38 and metro dizzy sitting into the boot. Must book it in with AC dodd for a setup.
The radseal stopped the leak in the waterpump and the water level is holding, still a replacement waterpump is waiting to go on once the weather has warmed up.
I attacked the rear brakes lately and found one of the brake cylinders siezed, thats been released and reconditioned, but its done its damage. A spare backplate, cylinder and drum to be fitted. Then it will be ready for the autotest season ;D

Hiya all, been on my travels and back in town. The Ducks been parked up at Heathrow for the last three weeks. Shes averaged a 1000miles a month since December & she'd not given me any trouble... until I drove to the airport. Typical, when your on a time scale things go wrong. Blating around the M25 I lost power, electrical fault. The rev counter just died. Coasted to a stop, opened up the bonnet and wiggled a few wires. Started and got me to the airport after a repeated issue just past the M4. Did the same coming back. And got worse going to work Thursday. I do belive is pushing my luck I assume the coil or the condenser is breaking down. The car holds an idle now and poodles up to 3000rpm but under load just misses. So, new electronic dizzy from a metro and a replacement coil to be slapped on. Goodbye points! The dizzy has been setup by AC Dodd which will help the advance curve. All for a probable loose 12v to the coil?

So I've been spotted eh...
Amazing, one exchange rebuilt dizzy with the correct advance curve has...
Cured the 1100 or 600rpm idle to just 800rpm. Cured the over heating issue. The car starts on the button. The car pulls up the hills a lot better. The engine is much smoother at idle. The MPG has jumped from 38 to 46mpg!!
100,000 mile birthday planned Thursday. Will treat her to a pair of recon radius arms.

A bit of a belated birthday present, but the two radius arms finally made it on tonight. N/S rear bearing has been louder than the engine for last couple of weeks.. So a wheel bearing and rear shoes also went on in prepriation for the autotester series starting tomorrow. The N/S radius arm had chewed up the roller bearings. A little dissapointed about the performance of the new setup. The drums bind up and then spin freely during a full rotation, suggesting the drums are now oval and had their day. A new pair of drums then... Idles a bit high which irritates me. the temperature goes up in the traffic even though the coolant system is now in tip top condition for the summer. Think I'll save up for AC Dodd to do a proper needle and setup as it maybe too lean at the lower RPMs. Mini's! who'd hav em?! ;D

Well time to tackle the cooling issue... Erm, well the autotest and using the duck to flatten the grass before the event last Friday was sensible.... And made the cooling issue a lot worse!! After a little spiv up. And the filter needed some atension... Changed the winter 88 Deg C thermostat for a 75 and fitted a new water pump. Suspected the old one was leaking a couple of months back. Plus a dash of colour. ;D

Wots all that white fur N Its the remains of the fluffy flowers/seeds from big weeds. 2-3ft tall weeds the duck flatten. ;D Think the grass cutter has been used now. really should watch where I park!

Sadly the screen has now got a huge crack too! Thanks Mr BMW driver who has a gravel drive >:-(
