i have heard that! I doubt they'd be much good in the wet either? But.... they do look awesome!
i was looking more into A539's as a better all round tyre, and due to the fact its still a daily..
buut! i may have found a set of wellers <3

I'm sure the wet weather thing is just a myth, at Brands Hatch it was brilliant even though they red-flagged the session twice due to a small lake forming on the track. One of the wettest days of the month I think.

Understand about the spacers . Around 1990 before the Cooper went into permanant production my brother and I spotted a John Cooper built Cooper in Arundel on a brilliant wide tyre . All you could get in those days were 145/70/12s . There were 155/70/12 but they were just the wrong tyre for Minis . This new tyre was a Dunlop 165/60/12 . Brilliant we thought , a decent wide tyre which we can have fun with . The standard Pirelli Cinturato's were just no good , although those Pirelli's were fitted to 12 inch wheeled Minis until the end of production. Anyway , Mark bought a set of Dunlops from Cooper for his New Racing Green LE along with the required rear wheel spacer so the tyre did not rub the shock absorber. I use 3mm spacers on back of MK1 and have similar on back of Micramin. As you say the A539 is likely to be a better all round tyre weather wise if you want 12ich wheels. I have only used 10inch yoko 008's on Minis and considering I have done around 10thousand miles and 4 or 5 hard track days they are lasting really well on mk1 . Micramini has Yoko 032s which look similar to the 48's pictured .

Went up to minispares London with elliot and alex this weekend... i didnt spend as much as them thankfully but still got some goodies... Pair of A-008's and some nice fitted floor mats got some other little bits whilst we were there, engine earth strap, pair of track rod ends, rear brake adjusters.. but i forgot what i really wanted to go there for, which was a pair of front subframe rear mounts

Steering rack got fitted thanks to alex for the help, grp6 arches are now on at the back, although not very happy with them, they seem to only just cover the wellers, and they dont tuck, so might be a visit to www.mcleanbros.com for some of there arches and possibly a splitter... But.... thats if i dont sell up, anyone here interested in it?

Those arches will be far too wide unless running 7 or 8 inch rims or spacers. The arches you have on there look more like the traditional Group 2 style, so not much wider if any than a standard Mini Special arch. Try Group 5s or similar, they are more like Sportspack width

like those arches. good to see something a bit different. would be better without the chrome trim though. reckon i'd get the dremel at the lip and smooth it off. (can't leave anything alone )

the arches in that picture are huddersfield group 2's.... ive now got huddersfield group 6 on the back and as I said before they do cover the wheel but they don't tuck it, hence ive had to raise the ride height again on the rear as to not destroy these arches as the tyre scrubs on hard cornering..
the plan for a temp measure was to run 1" spacers until I can afford 7.5 brakes (nobody can give me an answer as to whether 7.9's fit under Wellers) and with those spacers i could probably run the mcleanbros arches successfully

Wellers as far as I can remember had quite a deep dish to them , especially the 6X10, add a one inch spacer to that and you may well get what you want in spacing the wheel out but what is it doing to the wheel bearings ? Minispares spacer kits come with the required longer wheel studs @ just over £17. Save your £17 temporary measure, wait and put it towards getting the proper brakes . Minisport are selling a 12 to ten inch conversion for £200 in a special offer . Calipers , pads , drive flanges , screws etc. Cheaper than Minispares version and any 7.9 calipers . Assuming you are happy with suspension heights the way to really go about it is Brakes , wheels/tyres and then arches. Brakes first give you the correct fixing point for the wheels and size option for the wheel . ie 8.4 you can only use 12inch upwards . 7.9 allows you to use some but not all 10 inch wheels and anything larger 7.5 allows any wheel/tyre combo. Wheels and tyres fitted gives you the amount the wheel sticks out from the wing and also enables you to work out whether wheel arch mods are required and how wide a wheel arch you will need to cover the tyre. Pointless buying arches if you do not know how far the wheels are going to stick out . Iam trying to suggest things to help here . Afterall you are looking at putting say £17 into a spacer kit and buying a third set of arches already , and you do not even know what brakes will fit your desired wheel style. I guess that the cost of 2 sets of arches and the spacers could be put towards paying half of a Minisport 12 to 10 conversion kit. See what I mean . Cant wait to see it finished though .

Ha I know, well I brought the 2nd set of arches just as a legality, and I was told on good form that the arches I brought would have covered the wheels, which they did not, otherwise it would only have been 2 sets.

Yeah i understand what your saying about being told things that are wrong . Been there with crappy exhaust manifolds from Minisport that dont bolt flat to the head and a oil pump I nearly bought from Minispeeed at Southern Mini days a few years ago . I was told it was a top quality pump , the made in china sticker put me off. So whats next with yours ? I am sure the Minisport deal ended March 31st.
I have done some lowering to my mayfair.
