yeah i know about the plates, apparently the fine has stepped up to £60 now, but unless there just having a bad day i dont think it'll be worth pulling me over for (+ i'll keep the standard plates and some cable ties in the boot )

no progress as of such, apart from i brought some stickers and got some free ones, from gaz shocks, and dunlop.. also swapped one of the buckets for the standard seat and put the bottom part of the rear seat in as i was ferrying people around for a while, and i quite like it now aswell so might keep it!... but looking for some recaro's of sorts and wondered if anyone new if mk3 golf ones fit? or anything similar?

So things again are slow due to money, but, managed to get some bits and pieces done at work in the quiet period.. The familiar site for anyownercomparison shotthe cones going in are the reddot ones from minisport (if i remember correctly) had to take the top suspension arm out which was a bit of a pain also removed this! believed to be some sort of air tank from air assisted controls whilst it was in disabled useThe cars piece of unique historyWhilst ripping apart the car consistently latley i decided to treat her by adjusting up the tappets

A mate at work and I did up a Mini City about 4 years ago . That was Y or A reg but it was also blue and it had a plate on the seat crossmember between the sill and drivers seat that stated it was the property of the dhss , meaning the government , a bit like the one on your front panel. It too had the long legged seat frames and the bolt on version of the upto 1961 welded on seat front mounting bracket , the seat frame front legs are also similar to pre 1961 mini seats that had the differant weld on seat mounting brackets. Your seat mounting brackets and seat frames are obviously a special product for the disabled government cars as all other mainstream production cars have differant versions. Those original seats and brackets are worth keeping hold of .
Great pic of the knackered cone . These are one of the overlooked things on a Mini , usually because big silly bore exhausts, wheels and spots are more important than actually going round a corner without the car sitting on its bump stops cos its to low and loosing control .
Don't forget to replace another fogotten suspension componant, those knackered bushes . Minispares sell the best proven kits for suspension parts and bushing. I use them on mk1 and Dean has them for his mk1 too. All you will need then is 10 inch wheels and it will handle like a proper Mini ;D

Matts just about to do this on lisas car, but waiting to get some rebuild kit for the top arms as there coming out so he is going to sort them out the same time.
If you doing project low I take it your putting hi-lo's on.
Get some 10" wheels. Me and dave also have lowered shocks So it does not over stress the shocks I have a set of 10x5 GB alloys. Need blasting and powered coating/ spraying and a set of tyres
10" wheels are the way to go not to wide. Clean basic arches. Or none at all, nice retro look with you black bonnet
