update, gilbert is running lumpy but running hopefully enough to get to gerald, after taking rad out to find a leak turns out to be timing cover, ive already put a new oil seal and gasket in, so clean it off and do it again, still leaking, looks like the cover has an uneven edge so is not sealing properly, will have to replace this.. also running problems seem to have been faulty plugs which i brought several months ago and some intermittant failing with the leads so a new set of both plus new dizzy cap and arm.hopefully have this sorted tomorrow (sunday) then book in with gerald asap, would like to say thanks to all who have helped with a very special thanks to dean who has spent many many hours at mine helping sort this out thanks again guys, oh yeah been thinking what with the price of petrol would it be ok to dilute it with water!!!!!!!!!!!

those of you who attended the meeting last night will probably have noticed that katy and i wernt in particulary good moods!! bloody minis!!!!! gilbert is still leaking a decent amount of oil! so today enging removal number 8 looks like the half moon seal on the gearbox is letting by..so tonight i have seperated the box and i have decieded to put his old gearbox in as i know it is a good box and the one on the metro doesnt seem to like 2nd without a bit of pressure on the stick also decieded to put gilberts clutch in as this was new 1 year ago and i dont think i could face putting in all back in to find the gearbox is faulty, although all looks good in the metro box, only to find i may have to take it out, starting to run out of time now as gilbert is booked into geralds a week thursday and riv run is only a couple of weeks away.obviously if i cant get this sorted riv run wont be an option for us.. so it looks like a few late nights in the garage

i think you find it was the first time it was fitted, and then got it running a few more times after that, but never as good as the first.!!!!!!
kate stop worring, your not selling it, keep your head up, it will be ok in the end, just keep a steady stream of coffee going for your persevering hubby
i can come over any evening , you know that, just not friday mid day as i am doing disc and pads on a mates car at work.
