well we spent the second half of saturday over with Harold, unfortunately Kay (miniworld mag) & James (59 register) didnt make it over to see Harold, poor Zeb Kays gorgeous mini broke down & time ran out but we are hoping to meet again soon had managed to chat to Kay at L2B but not James. I gave Harold a bit of a clean up, cleaning his chrome & T cut his bodywork, looks great & shiney if you dont look too close at his odd patches here & there, lol ;D but not bad for an old fella! Chris did a few bits, including an oil change so we could try to start him up but unfortunately, John my friend who rents the barn, had to dash off to meet friends down from Yorkshire & needed to lock up, only had to connect the battery up but had to stop We are hoping Johns going to the barn briefly today to do the last few bits before his trip to Normandy with one of his army vehicles so we can nip over & try last pic shows the nasty crease & hand painted bits & his door handle thats round the wrong way!

I wouldent even bother trying to restore that to factory condition just enjoy it as is, battle scars and all! Maybe in a few years if it needs other work doing then do a restoration but at the moment just get out there and Enjoy! Looks FAB! N

thanks neil, main aim is to just get him road worthy, been asked if we can get him to one of the shows with the 59 register this year so we've decided to go for the IMM/mini50 show so fingers crossed, even if towed we should be going. on sunday we checked wipers, lights, indicators etc...all working only problem was fuel pump not working so no fuel getting through...so obviously wasn't gonna start! but as on saturday, john had to leave & we didnt have time to remove it so now have to wait 2 weeks! would love to have him nearer home

well we managed to get over the barn for sunday afternoon to do a few jobs to Harold Tasks set were to remove and test fuel pump, remove wheels for blasting and painting and remove a wheel cylinder from front and rear for reference as to what sizes were required. First job was the removal of the fuel pump that was not working last time but which screws were seized solid and could not be removed. They were sprayed with WD40 last time to allow it to soak in and using an impact driver it did eventually come off and we were able to test it and get it working. The wheels were removed and it was discovered it still has the rivetted type wheels! Amazingly the brake adjusters were free and we were able to remove a wheel cylinder from front and rear relatively easily. The brake linings are dry and look barely worn, however given the age of these we guess it is safe to assume they contain asbestos. new ones me thinks! With all the bodywork repairs etc Chris has decided to invest in a plasma cutter to save noise, sparks flying in all directions and running into other panels with a grinder etc... Harold's floors in the crossmember area will be it's first job, probably followed by Humbug's sills, the list will go on!!! Heres a few pics: i was in my element as i was able to do some bits too to help & got dirty, love it! ;D
