It is nice to drive again. It was gone for a week but I also been riding to work more often lately , so did feel great to go for a drive again.
The body work is all straight so I going to look after it better

We all has been going well
My rear pads indicator in the car has now gone down to 700 miles. I have now bought a presurised brake bleeder kit which runs off a compressor. Also bought a set of HEL stainless steal hoses, just got to get some caliper paint I decided to do it all over Christmas as I am off work so does not matter if my car is off the road for a few days
But today driving to work I noticed my car was pulling to the left, oh dam
Finished the day got in my car, drive 5 meters, it did not feel right. , flat tyre. Got out looked at the front passenger side , and a nice nail just on the edge of the first tread , dam can't get that repaired and it's a new tyre with about 7 mm of tread
But lucky I have run flats , so I could just drive to the garage and change the wheel over to my spare wheel, other wise I would of been stuck waiting a long time to get my spare of even a recovery truck.
But now I have to get a new tyre. Good old eBay.

well i thought i would post as its been a bit quite progress so far, i got a new tyre, took it to be fitted but the tyre fitters damaged my alloy, they chipped a section of power coat off the rim but lucky they said the would pay to fix it , so i took it back to sussex blast where it still is now. so i am driving round with 3 black and 1 silver wheels also as i have 2 weeks off work, and not back till the 6th jan,so i have the bini in the garage doing the brakes. its still in there now , the carriers are done, also replaced the rear wear sensor and the rear discs along with the rear pads and a set of S/S hoses, callipers are all sand blasted ready for painting tomorrow please excuse the mess

no not going to add any stickers etc just painting them red
the carriers have had at least 5 coats and the callipers have had 3 coats, there drying in the garage so will be fitting them tomorrow.
its amazing how time consuming it is to do. cleaning, and then coat after coat of paint. and in 100 miles there be black ha ha
got a gunson bleeding kit which uses vacuum and runs off a compressor at high pressure, good to see how well it works tomorrow and if i get the same pedel feel.

first off that vacuum brake bleeder is a load of SH1T. i want back to the tried and tested 2 person way.
its all back together . all fitted up fine, looks much better. BUT!!!!!!!!!!
the brake feel is worse than before. i only did the rear disc and pads and hoses, my brakes used to be sharp, a slight touch on the pedal and they used to stop you DEAD. now they feel softer, bit more play at the top before they start to work
don't get me wrong they stop the car and about the same of any other modern car i drive , safe and fine, but they don't feel as good as they were
i not sure if its down to the hoses, i have a funny feeling it could be the reason, due to the different ore size. which is a shame after spending the money on them to have a worse brake feel.
anyone got any ideas
PS. its not air i bled them sooooo many times. then sent it to my local garage, who did it again and found NO air in the system. BMW have bled them twice, and the feel has been the same as it was new
but since the hose change and i bled it, its feels worse to me

Did you fit new discs/pads? Mine felt terrible after I first fitted new discs and pads, it took a few hundred miles before it felt right, I thought that may have been the rear pistons sorting themselves out after having to wind them back to fit the new rear pads. The bore size of new hoses will make absolutely no difference whatsoever.

Front disc and pads were done 6 or so mounts ago , pads were just removed then refitted, this time.
Rears are new standard discs and green stuff pads. But could be the pistons coming back out. Till there reset as such
When I did the fronts 6 mounts they felt no difference. And BMW have done 2 brake fuild changes since I have had the car. And they have always been the same.
I have heard something to to with the ABS systems where you need to pug into the obd2 port to open something etc. How true that is I don't know.
I had hardly any play at the top of the pedal, you just had to touch on the pedal and you were head butting the steering wheel really sharp. And I had real trust in my brakes if I need to stop fast. Every time my dad got in my car to drive it, he used to press the pedal like normal and it was like he was doing a emergency stop.
The front pads are bedded in, after refitting I drove and left foot braking to clean any crap the brake clearer did not remove. ( they got hot) left for a day or so then we re bled them again. Then it's been to the local garage who found no problems with it. No air. But they drive loads of cars. But we're not used to mine before.
I have driven it about 20 miles today and I am nearly used to the brakes. They are fine. But I know they were a lot better
Maybe BMW to do something when they bleed them. But I not paying £80 for a brake fuild change. It's got to go in for a service this month so I ask how they bleed them.

Not had any problems doing discs and pads on mine but I have never bled them. Not sure if you need to put it in a service mode to disable the abs... I know you need to do this on some other German cars

That funny I came across that page but never read to the bottom.
I might give that abs thing a go. You can easy get to the bleed tipples with the wheels on. As long as you can get the car high in the air.
Do you think that obd2 port thing from that BMW site will do anything.
There website is not active any more. But I be interested in getting one now as there are now 3 BMW in the family so will come in handy.
Might look into getting a tool to reset service lights , along with codes. Etc. But it's a mind field as there are so many out There and you don't know which ones are good

I would have thought a clone BMW cable like the black one I looked at would work a treat as it uses cracked BMW software but just need to find a new supplier if the website has gone if you do find one let me know and I will get one too
