It lives!!!!!!!!!!!! Mot'ed and taxed. It was fighting me all the way, clutch change, driveshaft gaiter, ball joints sloppy, mixture adjustment on the carb stuck, the list goes on. It won't win the show and shine in Holland but rewarded all my hard work with a first time pass at the mot station, only one advisory. Thanks to everyone who supported and helped, Shawn for the welding, Dean for the windscreen, Neil for the carb bits and Simon for the moral support and other spares! See you next week, will have lots of photos from cloggy land.

Yep, there was plenty of sweat, a bit of blood and actually some tears welling up when I realised it had passed! Good job I had my sunglasses! Plenty of emotion in this one, haven't slept properly the last couple of days! Looking forward to getting some good use out of it!

Well, a year has passed and the Red One has given me just under 10000 miles of fairly trouble free motoring, two track days, an autotest season, some 12 car rallies, a production car trial and a bit of commuting.. Did a Historic Rally Car register rally yesterday, 500 miles of driving in 8 hours, then took it for it's MOT this morning.. Passed with an advisory for a slight amount of top ball joint play and a handbrake that is just enough.. Good Girl! Must sort Handbrake as the Autotest season is starting and I've got a rebuild kit for the ball joints on both sides..

thats pretty good only hand brake adjustment and a ball joint, after the stick its had from the rallys and auto tests, and also simon using it at times, i surprised it not more it needs, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Right, the next chapter of the Red One begins. After a cracking day's motorsport, the Red One was trailered home after leaving a large lump of it's diff housing and most of it's engine oil on a Sussex hillside... It was planned to take it off the road soon anyway as I now have all the panels for a front end rebuild, leading to a respray. Still, 120,000 miles, two seasons Autotesting, one and a half Car Trials, a couple of track days and various rallies isn't too bad out of a standard diff pin... Oh, and Simon drove it once or twice too...

dont think that nutty drive on to the round about by knock hatch on saturday helped it much , but you did say you knew it was on it was out and would take it easy,
if thats taking it easy , how do you normal drive it !!!!!!!!!

Pulled the engine out this afternoon, bit of carnage around the diff.. Taking the diff to work tomorrow, will strip it down to see the damage. It ain't pretty.. A quick look through the hole in the gearbox shows that the main gear set seems unharmed so hopefully most of the internals will be recycled into a new casing. Still deciding what to do with the engine, It may get a full rebuild to a mildly fast road spec with a bore out to 1293, an SW5 cam and a bit of head work. The bodywork will start with chopping the front end off and a d**n good clean up in the engine bay, a couple of small patches on the front scuttle, new doorskins, refit front end then a nice shiny coat of paint. Should keep me out of trouble for a little while!
