Tried the lights on my car tonight and found that putting main beam on turns out the headlights completely! If I flash it only, it works fine. The dipped headlights work ok. My boy has just left for Canada, can anybody else suggest what the cause might be? (And preferably come round and fix it! ;D ;D)

& mine! started end of last week, one minute lights worked then they didnt, then found when they were working, if you tried to flash it would all stop working again. discovered today its dodgy fuse connectors. cleaned up etc seem to work but weird connections/wiring by previous owners so need to sort them out soon!!

Bad luck mum, sod's law!
My first thing to look at would be the bulbs, but they are both brand new!, then if a voltage is been supplied to the bulbs.
There is a huge red/pink relay behind the dash. Thats the lighting relay, check its connections.
The 2nd fuse done does the flasher, but also the horn. So that would be a quick check. The inline fuses behind the airfilter, 15amp - Brown/Orange Wire controls the Dim-Dip Lighting.
Then I would check the switch on the steering column.
Sorry I canr help much more mum.

Had job done at local garage as it needed a new switch. They also aligned the headlights for me as I didn't want to blind anyone on my to and from work!

Good to hear you got it fixed even if you didn't do it yourself !! I found with mine a new set of fuses and fuse box did the job. Ant
