Think I blew the alternator last night.
Fan, lights, heated front and rear wind screen.
The alternation light came on and will not switch off. It dims at very low idle with no electrics on.
But the car runs, head light have not dimed, so i guess a very low output is coming from the alternator?
Wiring all in good condition from what I can see.
Any suggestions apart from replace the alternator?

test the alternator first, we have a tester at halfords that will show you the output under load and without. maybe its a connection to the dash light gone wrong if it still seems to be working. Do the lights get brighter when the engine is running?

Multimeter will be put onto it later today, as you say, may just be the panel light. Yeah the lights do brighten up with the rpm, hence I'd like to borrow another alternator to try before buying. Cheers Stephen

12.6battery volts, 14volts when engine is running. Think I want to try another alternator to be sure its not about to give up the ghost!

sounds fine, i'd say excellent if it was 14.4v, good if close to 14
not sure if you need to test the current output too?
