Quick Question,
What is the weight of an assembled engine, gear box & head? And could I put one in the back of my saxo without damaging it or would I need to get the pickup out?
Think I have found a second hand engine but I need to colect it... Just thinking how I would get it home
Cheers Neil :-)

its heavy.... 100 kilos or so? Saxo should be ok, think about folding the seats down and having the engine nearer the centre of the car. Where is the engine? I do have a nice big estate car....

little advice for moving engines in a car
tarp to cover anything you don't want grimed for life scrificial mdf/ ply board to sit it on make sure its securely in place and won't move about
taken engines in a volvo and a golf before
lifting them without a hoist is not fun so be prepared

it would help if the engine was split as you could level out the weight around the car.
it is lifting it in and out, without scratching anything not the weight, as its about the same as 2 people

Suspension should easily be able to take a mini engine in the back! Splitting it would only help slightly as the bulk of the weight is the actual block. remember there's a 50/50 chance so give it a go!!
