Hello, My dilemma is this, i am pretty sure that i am going to be putting a new engine unit into the Moke (1966 Morris), and not spend the money fixing the current one that is quite ill. i am limited to a 1098 engine size for various reasons so do i get a 1098 or a 998! the 1098 i hear is more economical, but doesnt rev as high as the 998, is there a huge performance difference? So, what do you guys recomend? Regards Alastair.

A higher capcity lower reving engine will last longer for your money.
But the 1098 been a rarer engine will be a few pounds more to restore.
I'd go for the 998 and slap a supercharger on it. ;D

998. good cheap engines and there loads out there to buy, as most people up grade to a 1275 thats why they are harder to find cheap, cheap on parts
great for around town, good on petrol easyier to tune.

Ok, thanks guys for all the help and comments! Ive also heard the 1098 isnt very tunable, or not as much as the 998, is that a parts thing, or the actual engine design??
Thanks in Advance Alastair
