Hi there people, want to do abit of tuning to my little 998 engine and going to fit a new better air filter but was wondering if its worth fitting a LCB manifold to replace the old standard one already fitted!?! Ant

Def worth it. Should give you an extra 20% peak HP when it's been set up (if the rest of the engine is in good order).

Depends on what other mods you have done to a 998 I would guess twins are a bit of an overkill, unless they are only twin 1 1/4" but they should increase the responsiveness anyway

Last time my mini was written off - not my fault... I had to claim on sombody else's insurance, there insurance company came round and did a full inspection on the car which included crowbar open the bonnet and removing the cyl head!!! so even if you dont claim on your insurance they may check anyway.
It was fairly obvious the car was modded as it had a full rollcage etc. so that might have raised their susspesions

No way will you get 20% extra from a lcb or any other manifold, maybe 5% if you are lucky. There are many other things you can do to make it breath better. Better air filter, less restrictive exhaust box, even just a better spark would help.

Not so! We fitted a stage 1 kit to Alex's standard 998 Mayfair. It comprised a Maniflow Cooper Freeflow manifold and full system, a cast alloy inlet manifold which I polished out a bit and a refurbed/flowed HS4 carb with K&N. After a run up on a Rolling road, including a needle change and a timing tweak, it put out 50HP. Standard is 42 so 8HP increase was 20% and it really sparkles for a little one. I was surprised myself but Gerald Dale's rollers confirmed the figure.
