Hi all Ive got a spare 1275 cylinder head lying about and wondered if i got it skimmed and maybe bored would it make any difference to my standard 1275 engine?

it would make a difference but its best to check what compression ratio you have and if your pistons can take the extra compression after the skim.
its not cheap, i am finding that out right now !!!!!!!!
but it has to be right,

The key to unlocking hp in a mini is the head,if your wanting a bit more hp just get the head ported and polished.Yhe valves in a 12g940 are big enought for a mild tuned 1275 or 1299,its the air flow in the ports that needs attention.just going for more compression is not the answer,some of the hot cams we use in racing wont work with a low compression ratio. Easiest thing to do is improve the induction between the carb and the combustion chamber and between the exhaust valve and the tail pipe, 1good carb set up 2 good inlet manifold 3 good porting in the head 4decent exhaust manifold 5 decent exhaust system All of the above will show increase in hp and tq hope this helps k1

Thanks for the advice. Will look closer into the compression of my pistons b4 going to far and look at improving the bits that were mentioned by k1 also Thanks again
