Hi all, i am new to your site!! I have just bought a British open classic 1993 mini. and the temperature gauge reads hot,even when first started we have done all the normal changes.within the engine side of thing's. Does anyone have any more suggestion's what might be sending it up??? Thanks lucie

Have you changed temp sender ? or might be earthed out sender lead.

or is the lead acutally connected to block,
i came across this once and the lead was disconected?

Is the fuel gauge working OK ? if not might be voltage stabilizer ( pluged in behind dash )

Sorry to here about your gauge. If it's not one thing its another.
Did you replace the sender with new?
When you unplug the sender what does the gauge do?
I'd try the voltage stabiliser as Jim suggested.

it sugests one of three problems which can be sorted easily and cheaply 1) there is a short to ground on the wire from the sender to the guage (this usually gives full deflection to the hot side)but does not effect any other instrumentation. 2)faulty sender?guage? 3)if fuel guage is doing something similar voltage stabiliser located on rear of clocks item 47 in haynes wiring diagram.

Hi all, Between my husband, dad,and myself we got it sorted! Behind the dash all the wires really rough,so we replaced it working perfect now. Hopefully no more teething problems!!!Thanks for all your good advice.
