basically my uncle had a great idea of fitting this 1 1/4" or 1 1/2 " ( not sure which) twin choke weber carb to his crappy little kit car and just decides to go off to africa leaving me to "inheret" this brand new carb. problem is i think its too big to go straight in where the old SU one is without cutting a hole in the bonnet. so i can either do that or i could try and make up a manifold that will stretch around so i can put the carb in the space near the wiperblade motor!?! its obiously going to be a downdraft manifold that i need to adapt.
am i insane? has it been done before? any thoughts?

really need more details on everthing .
What is the kit car , what car does the engine come from , what engine capacity is it what carb is on it now and what weber carb is it ?
The weber carb will have numbers on it.
I should think if it were a A series engine unless its got in the region of 100bhp a weber will be of no benefit .

You cannot just bolt something on that is not appropriate for the application and expect it to work. Looking at it in a light hearted way ....... Plonking a propellor on a Mini does not mean it will fly. ;D

I've got a downdraft weber on my 1330, it's a 36dcnv, you need to look on the side of the carb for the type number, mines stamped on the float chamber. I know mine needs tuning, but mine runs well with it, when I was at the rolling road meet in Dec, Gerald Dale said once they're adjusted correctly, they're potentially better than SU's because you don't need to keep correcting them. So He's probably the best one to talk to, to see if it could be used on your engine.
