hi all im trying to put a diffrent gear box on my 1275 but in order to take the origonal gear box off i gotta get the flywheel off. sounds so easy in the manual. well iv been trying to get it off for about a couple of weeks now. i have: touqued it up tight. tryed to break it off the taper by hitting the end with a club hammer, tryed heating it up and doing all of the above at the same time. im using a halfords puller at the moment and its a verto type flywheel. i did hear that the 1275 metro engine flywheels have a tendancy to weld themselve to the crank. and that a serious amount of heat is required to help release it. is there anything else i cud try?
thanks matt

Torque up the puller and just leave it over night! ;D I had to cut a verto flywheel in half once to remove it... Tapping through the start motor housing, gentle tapping of the puller bolts. Try refitting the nut and re-tourque to a higher setting... if you can! Then try removing it again. This has worked for me before. Apart from that all I can reccomend is heating the flywheel and keeping on the crack cool with water. Good luck!!

the only other thing to do is heat it up, that may work, or take it to your local engine builder, if you can but it may cost,
if i ever have any time i pop over and have ago if thats ok with you

mat some time it has been known that the small pellet insert is left in the end so when the puller is used it is actually not pulling anything off .

Have you made sure the u shape washer is up the right way. If it is not and it has dropped down it will be stopping the flywheel from being removed.

hi, i have removed the flywheel bolt and lock tab, i then removed the chunky spacer thingy thats the shape of the crank. so looking at the crank i can see the thred and then the outer edge of the crank and then the flywheel but i cant see anythin to stop it from sliding off, i spoke to caburn and they recon it will come off using there puller which is a big heavy duty one. apart from that they said just giv it a good wack. i have currently taken the diff off so i can lay it flat to help stop the engine rocking wen tightenin to see if i can gain a few extra touque. dean if u would like to pop other at some point this week i wud be most greatfull pm me to arrange a day/time. also i have noticed that the pistons have a slight amount of movement is this normal or are the piston rings damaged? thanks matt
