i think you will struggle to find insurance from specialist insurance people being 17. i had trouble getting cheap insurance and still do now to a certain extent. i am on my mums policy as a named driver with CIS with 45% no claims in low/medium risk postcode on driveway for about £450 on a 998cc standard.

Just got mine down to £300 with Norwich Union. Its the cheapest I've found with mods declaried - ie wheels & stero. They would turn you away with a stage one kit.

I have my VTS insured with Hasting direct full comp parked in the road £430 oh and i'm 27 going on 72! also I think you have to be 21 to get classic insurance and have another car insured as your main vehicle Coop was good to me up until I turned 25! N

I've also had very good experiences with performance direct, you can get specialist insurance under 21, you just need to shop around, my brother had a classic policy at 18 yrs old. I would hate to be that age again having to pay stupid amounts for insurance!

My son Jake, 19, got a quote from CIS for £650 standard 998 kept on drive etc etc.....
We decided to keep him on my insurance though as it is half that price and he still builds his own no claims bonus ;D It only starts when you get to 19 and only lasts 3 years. The good thing is, if I have an accident it doesn't affect him ;D

Unfortunately we are all differant, live in differant places and have differant cars . Shopping around is the best way to find a quote this site does the shopping for you www.confused.com Classic companies will still need a bit of leg work on your part.. ps, F is for forum. It is viewed buy young and old remember D

I have found direct line good for ordinary cars and myself, Jem and Steve are all with Miniworld which we find very sympathetic towards our modifications compared to Direct line who wouldn't go near us Like Dave says you just got to shop around and make many many many phone calls. It helps if you can play them off each other a bit as some will drop their price if you've got a better price elsewhere as generally they do want your money

i think direct line were doing no claim bonus for named drives, so you could get cheaper insurance under someone elses name and still get you no claims bonus. the faster you get that the better. my cousin even had a old mini v5c of me and insured it for a year just to get has no claims up while he used has company work van. and the mini was scraped but not declared
just keep looking some will match your best quote just to have you with them.
