I have started to rebuild a 1275 turbo engine with the intension of putting it in my clubman. The cam that is with the engine seems to be knackered. The problem i have got is knowing what cam to go for. I would like it to have a power increase but i still want the car to run nicely, not all lumpy like my golf gti did with a road rally cam.
Just wandered what other people would use

Tuning Question: Which cam? I'm just about to rebuild an MG Metro Turbo engine to fit into my 1990 Mini and wonder if you could advise me as to which camshaft would be most suitable. Rick Bell Answer Without knowing how much you intend to tune your engine, it is difficult to advise accurately on which camshaft to choose. However, Avonbar produces some good Turbo cams. You should consider their Phase 2 cam for an engine in a milder stage of tune, as this cam retains excellent driveability, or a Phase 3 cam if you are intending to tune to a high level. Contact Avonbar on +44 (0)1279 873428 or see www.avonbar.com. (from miniworld)

I'd recommend Avonbar too. Just have a chat to 'em and they'll sort you out with what you're after.

does anybody know if the cam bearings will be included with the new cam or will i have to buy the seperatly, seems silly to spend all that money on a cam and leave in old bearings in

without going to in depth to replace the cam bearings is more of a specialist job . K1 is the chap to ask about this I think, as he knows the right people to use . dave

bearings arent normally included because, as dave sed, it can be a bit tricky. we mangaed to fit some new bearings using a suitably oversized socket to knowck them in, although most places i checked recommend to get this done at a specialist
