hi, i have recently purchased a set of twin 1 1/4 su carbs and cylinder head with rockers from a scrap yard i bought it just for the carbs but looking closly at the head it look pretty special looks old but in very goood condition i think its a 1275 as it has 11 stud holes but its not a metro one as it has a bypass hose bit, and its still in origional paint bmc green, it has large valves bronze valve guides and double valve springs and large chambers, i was wondering if theres any mini idetification web sites or somthing or if any of you could help identify it. the numbers on it read 12g940. 020. 11e. 12g1805 K.
cheers matt

the 020. sounds like it may have been worked on had had 020. of the face of the head so the compression is higher
sounds like a good head, has it been ported out or has the still got the groves for the inlet manifold to locate into

i dunno if its been ported i'll check today. it has a K stamped near the thermostat housing. if i was to fit this to an 1100 would i have to pocket the block? i know i would have to drill 2 more holes in the block for studs. or is it easyer to just look for a 1275 engine and fit it to that?

yes you would have to pocket the block and than means a total strip down to a bare block
you dont have to have to have the 2 extra holes drilled but it help to stop blowing head gaskets and keep compression.
and if you need it drilled you need to have a toal stripe down to a bare block
you could look for a 1275 engine. but its all down to personal choice. get as good as you can get. cheaper it is , it will need a rebuild, and then it starts to cost money.
