Hello all,

2. Tickover - When ticking over fine but push the revs up high starts spluttering and backfireing? any ideas?

1. *check the fuse box and fuses,( its always some thing simple) *check all connections to the fuse box, replace if needed, or clean up terminals *unscrew your fuse box and check the back *check all connections to indecators and wires going to them *check the bulbs so see if they have blown *check switch in the car
2. *do a service *change, spark plugs, leads, distubtor cap, rotor arm, points *check your air filter is not blocked *make sure there is no leaks in the exhaust or manifold to the back of the head *make sure your advance and retated pipe is connected ans not broken *check to see if the carb is worn *check you have the right needle *for the right setting on the carb mixture. it should be 11 flats, turn the nut under the carb right up(anti clockwise then down 11 flats, 1 flat sort of 2 turns *then set the distubtor and throttle speed. * i all else if above does not work CALL SHAWN

erm cheers that will be the switch if only one side is workin , the power is getting to the circuit so nothing wrong with fuse ok. number one rule dont disturb the fuse connections unless you absolutely have to especially on an old car fusebox. as dean says cheak the easy things first so check out the bulbs first eh ? bad running check the oil level in your dash pot , this is probably where the problem is if car has been standing still for a while not run dont go adjusting things untill ypu check this ok .

Def the hazard switch.
If the indicators work normally... all the switch does is isolate the indicator stalk and send the voltage on the same wires to the bulbs.
Change the switch and then the plug if required.

Sounds just like what I've been through, check for air leaks from the carb to the manifold. New gaskets etc if you disturbed and didn't replace. Oil in the dash pot.... that should be part of your normal level checks Then go to the dizzy
