hi all, im in the process of sorting out the electrics on my mini project. and i have found that my indercators arnt working, this is because of a relay not being there. iv tryed the one off my current mini (of which i know works) and they still dont work however this is a 2 pin relay and i have 4 wires: 1 green, 2 light green and brown and 1 black and white. these are the only wires that arnt connected to anything. iv looked in the haynes manual for a wire diagram for a mini 30 and there isn't one in there it has a wire diagram for a 1988 mayfair and then jumps to injection models and on the mayfair wire diagram it only shows a 2 pin relay and on the injection models diagram it uses a 3 pin realay and i tryed one of them and it didnt work. does any one know wat sort of a relay a mini 30 uses? can anyone help? thanks matt

Have you checked the hazard lights too? The switch isolates the indicators when the hazards are on. I've a diagram, I'll check later for you.

hi again matt where is the location of the relay/flasher you are refering to. 1)under dash behind clock bracket. 2)on right side under scuttle near wiper rack. 3)or near the drivers side inner wing (sometimes mistaken for indicator but is actually a starting relay). most of the flashers are two wire connections with green assotiated with a coloured tracer .the later cars came out with electronic flashers which only had three wires (the additional one being an earth)for the electronic flasher to have an earth for the circuit to work . one wire is supply live + second wire is load indicator circuit <two wire circuit> and an earth <three wire electronic circuit > these are located on the bulkhead under the scuttle . the same modification can be made inside with the hazard lights flasher however it is a common fault where the wrong flasher is used , one type is for the cars with repeaters on the wings and the other type is for the older cars and modified cars without repeaters , worked out in watts ie, 2x 21 watts OLD and 2x 21+1x5 watts later type with repeaters . the module with three pins for the electronic upgrade is a total loading of all lamps ie 4x21 watts and 2x5 watts if i remember correct if in doubt go for a largest rating to be safe . NB if you want to go for the L.E.D. indicators you will need to use the electronic flasher with relatively low wattage perhaps add some components to load up the flasher (all available form ebay!!). hope this helps matt .
