Welcome to the forum Rob, I assume your 17-20 with no/little no- claims-bonus. Have you tried the mini magazine for insurance companies? For a first timer you will be looking to pay around £1000. I got by my first policy on my parents as a named driver. I'm now 26 with four years no claims, 1275cc 1996 mini and pay £300 . My partner as a named driver takes it to £500 (She's 21) You may end up paying extra as the car has been 'modified'. I would advise just going out to find an original 998 , There are plenty of great 998's around for a good price. Plus with a few undeclared modifications, a 998 and give a 1275 a run for its money! ;D

Depends on the 1275 Si ;D ;D Being an old f#rt comes in handy when it's ins time .I pay just over £100 fully comp and all mods declared. Beanie just paid £1275 on his 1098 tpft all mods declared but he is just 18 and no no claims. Its down to age but try the mini mags as Si say's.Graham Sykes is good for mod's and young driver's. Be a shame to change engine after work already done.

Or just by a classic mini (i.e. one over 25 years old) and you get classic insurance. N

I did that with my TR7 - 21 and driving a 2ltr, 2seat, rear wheel drive, sporty car , for only £400 a year ;D. But the clause was it did not build any no-claims-bonus!

Unfortunately your young so its going to cost you whether its 998 or 1275 . Your also to young to obtain classic insurance as you are under 21. Any chance of first refusal on the 1275 if you decide to sell it.

Ah - I didn't realise you already had the 1275 . I'm sure you'll be able to find quotes under £1000 . Is the car already modified/what have you got? I just had a blast of Shawns/Gemma 998 mini, not bad, I had a winge about a couple of things but he's going to sort them out.

Not trying to plug my employers...........but I put Jake on my 998 insurance for his 17th birthday, fully comp and though I can't remember how much it was exactly, it was under £450 for the pair of us. www.cis.co.uk or phone 08457 464646 New customers even get 25% introductory discount and could be as much as 45% Coop - we go further so you don't have to

Escort?!? No swearing on this forum thanks!! Don't want the F##d manufacturer bringing down this forum! Full comprensive does save so many extra costs if you have an accident, but there is sometimes a great cost saving going third party only. (My policy charges more for third party only!!?? )

I have CIS too, seems to be cheap for younger drivers because they do a 'anyone can drive with the policy holders permission' type thing. my mum being the policy holder....
