word up word up right ive spoken to scot in peacehaven , this lot are a bunch of utter ripoff cowboys . 2 put this message in to perspective for others reading this :- scot purchased 1 engine 1300 from the above people and it was discovered the flywheel had not been tightened or locked either so the poor lad had to remove the motor and return it by courier and wait for another , based on the attitude and after care from these people a note of the engine number was taken (there was no engine number on the block!!) when scot collected the replacement he then checked it to ensure he hadnt been sent the old one back it checked out to be another engine he then fitted it to his car he run the engine for about twenty minuits !!! the same fault had occured , the flywheel has become independant to the crankshaft. to the extent it had ruined the crank and rendered it unuseable . scot was able to gain a full refund of his money but they have not made any attempts to collect the engine ( a rebuild for me in the winter ) when i did the engineers report on his engine in his car this poor lad was welling up in tears when i explained my findings in the workshop accompnied by his dad . it all ended in good will and hapiness as i was able to source a low milage turbo 1275 lump straight from a metro turbo .for a lot less than he spent on one of these lemmons !!

As most of you know I work in a garage . We will only buy recon engines from the top remanufacturer because of the problems we have had in the past with second hand engines..
If you know it will need a rebuild fair enough but if you buy one in good faith that is supposedly ready to fit and its a dudd thats not on . The only way I have bought Mini engines is to buy the car they are in . 998cc AND 1275cc Metros , lovely cars get them for £50 run them round the block so you know engine and gearbox are ok, then drive it home take the engine out and dump the rest . It is cheaper to buy a complete running Metro than just the engine. All A series Metros G and H reg are unleaded, of course that depends if they have there original engines and heads.

Well guys......... Si is proud owner of my old lump, make it great again Si!. Leaton Mini are collecting my car with their engine and taking it away to repair. I have taken note of engine number and smartwatered it!! (suspicious policeman's mind). They are going to rectify and return on carrier so watch this space. I have to say in contactidtion of poor scot's experience, Danny at Leaton has been very good about the whole thing so far and they are picking up the cost for transport, repair and return without any sort of fight, will kepp you all updated, especially shawn who may have another winter rebuiled if all goes tits up!
