it looks ok but that means nothing. its what under neath what matters. nice trip to derby.
looks like some one has gone mad with a spray can in the engine bay and may have touch up some rust.
its up to you but i never buy a car on ebay unless i have seen it ,and drove it. because it could be a load of rusty metal and a worn engine.
but over all its a nice car but tops i would only pay £500 as that is a big round trip and a lot of petrol.

I can't afford to buy one at the mo, just looking around to see how much they go for. This one sounded very good for the money, just wondered what you experts thought! Is there a buying guide on this forum?

Had a quick look £200 I cant see T&T or milage, I would guess 50thou to 90thou
If its got T&T for a year, £600 would be fair for an 1983 ex1000 1275 Auto, Sounds like it dosn't need much..... Would be a good project if you got it cheap.
Autos are lots of fun, just plant your foot on the go pedal and flick the stick through the gears. Ask Tony.
It is a long way to go, 4-5hrs it took in my Mini (70-100mph) That's a long way so make sure you have RAC or a car following!
No guide yet - The Mags do good buyers guides.

yes and no, if you know what you are doing.
you need a manual subframe auto ones are to wide of a manual engine
a manual engine and gear linkage, carb
a clutch peddle box and all the other clutch bits. master cylinger, slave cylinder pipe work. fiddle bit, very fiddley, i have done it once, got it done, but got so pizzed off with it when doing it i punched my wind screen and smashed it
you will also have to change your brake system over to the other subframe, so you might as well check everything is in good working order or you will be takrn it off again.
i dont think its in a hayes manual
best to buy a mini as a manual its much easier
hope it helps

To be honest its just as fun in an auto, you cant do stunts or rally the box , but as fast road car, to flick through the gears semi auto, is real fun - An auto box will be fine with a standard 1275, but start to tune it and it will break - Expensive to fix, cheaper just time consuming to replace. You really need to come along to the next meet and buy a few drinks/try a few cars. ;D

last year i had a 30k mile auto someone needed a auto engine so i sold it to them , relatively easy really just dropped the whole lot out on the subframe and whilst it was all out took care of the pedal box and clutch bits then put manual setup allready in its subframe in dont forget you need to put a link in the wiring that used to go to the auto selecter as it will never start untill you do as this circuit is the neutral select for the auto startup (usefull place to install an immobiliser by the way), took me a weekend to do it no graet hassle . the thimg most peeps over look is an investment in an auto meens you have purchased in most cases a really low milage shell so you are quids in for the next few years for the expence of a couple of days graft . the other thing is the brakes on an auto are fantastic so that would be a good investment too .lol

do not buy a mini without looking at it first ,
if you are new to minis take a mini nut with you to check it out . I hear a mini buying horror story every time I meet a new member at a club meet.
and buy a manual one , virtually the whole clubs Minis are manual for a very good reason . They are better than the autos.
