Hi all As you have probably gathered from the title we are having problems with Manky. When you turn the ignition key there is a clicking noise (like the starter motor on the blink). The battery has been charged and is only a couple of months old anyway. All lights work so there seems to be plenty of power. Tony has tried getting a spark from the solonoid but there doesn't seem to be one. Could this mean we need a new solonoid (I'm sure thats not how its spelt) or is there anything else we should try first? Thanks in advance for your advice Rachel

I had that problem before, turned out to be the starter motor connection. it worked when tightened up but was only really fixed with a new motor, but perhaps it could also be something to do with the solenoid. I think the connection was damaged on mine so it never really tightened up properly. Stephen

hi rachel is this a new post since phone call? are you still having problems ? like the other post says it could be rust on the inner wing behind the remote solonoid , held in with two very small nuts and bolts , thie remote solonoid needs to be a good earth in order to work . to test your starter use a battery and a set of jump leads and connect the earth to the alternator bracket and strike the bolt that goes to the starter from the solonoid with the red positive jump lead (caution may be sparks ), if the starter kicks in you know the motor is ok if it dont its buggered . if the starter kicks in then your problem will be iether terminations or solonoid . hope thats helpfull give us a bell at minibizz regards shawn

Hi all Hate to say this but Manky is misbehaving yet again...... Broke down on Eastbourne seafront last week, misfiring and carb pouring petrol again. Left him there as punishment for a couple of days before getting him home. Now can't get a spark at all..... have changed points, condenser, distributor cap, coil and leads..............still no spark Have you any ideas, cos Tony's gonna chuck it on e-bay otherwise ;D Rachel

Get Shawn to do a home visit? Will be cheaper than replacing everything. Good luck.
