I do mine every now and again on a mini they get sooted up well quick cos there on the same side as the exhaust manifold. All I use is some warm soapy water (i.e. fairy cos it cuts through the dirt & grease) in a bucket with an old toothbrush to clean it then I re oil it with WD40
Much cheeper than a K&N cleaning kit but basically does the same thing.
N :-)

if u use wd 40 it could damage the element and it will not be oiled up properly, maybe thts why urs gets dirty so quick neil.

I agree with gt5 use soapy hot water the hotter the better, blow it out with an air line we use auto transmittion fluid on the race cars or if money is no object the stuff the moto-cross boys use on there motorbikes is as good as it gets.If auto fluid stops it on our racers it will be more thyen ok on the road cheers k1
