Hi all Now I have Bogey back following engine overhaul, I'm looking to next winter and sorting out the bodywork. Both wings, scuttle and bonnet need replacing along with A panels and door skins. Someone has suggested I go for a flip front, to which my initial reaction was an emphatic no! Having given it some thought, there are some advantages, but typical of me, I don't know which way to go. I would really apprectiate some advice, along with the pros and cons. ;D Many thanks Rachel

Hi Rachel I can’t remember what mini you have but my views on them are... Makes it very easy to work on the engine. Not as difficult to fit as they used to be and some people say they are. A fibreglass or carbon front is lighter and I think it will cost less then metal panels. Down side is it will turn your car into a modified mini. That will affect your insurance and may affect its market value if you ever wanted to sell the car. Getting as good paint finish is not as easy either apparently. Hope this is of help to you Steve www.vtec-mini.co.uk

What Steve said!
I'd always fit a removable front instead of repairing/replacing rusted front panels.
Once its done thats it. No rust problems waiting to cost you more money.

Thanks guys for your words of wisdom. Will have to look seriously at costs, and maybe have a good look at yours and see if I can make a decision. Rachel

was thinking bout it myself but the inner wings help to keep the engine a bit cleaner and it will be more original. plus u gotta have a plug of some sort for the electrics. I went for some genuine wings and had them properly fitted ie not me and my dad doing it in the garage :-) cost about £150 not including paint so theres not a lot in it price wise.
