Dave, Is this acceptable for an exhaust manifold blow at MOT time? Just got to get the subframe mount fixed but caught the manifold blow in the photos. Any thoughts is it ok? Cheers N

as far as exhausts are concerned they must be excessively corroded or emit excessive noise. With those 2 clamps hanging down I would be more worried about ripping the thing off. Dave

I found the same problem with mine, so i turned the brackets round to the sides and it doesnt ground out there so much anymore. Have u thought bout undoing it then getting sum gum gum to seal it up a bit and then putting it back togteher? That worked on my MOT

No Grounding problems for me the front of the mini is Jacked up like a 4x4 like I have 2" between the tyre and the arch It does not sound like its blowing but you can see where the exhaust gas is escaping, those tiny traces of soot is what I was concerned about... So you think it will pass if it doesent sound bad. Stephen, I did think of using fire clay or something similar but its messy and if I dont need it I wound do it. Just thought I would ask before the MOT man tells me to fix it. N

Neil I said I cannot hear it , cant be blowing. Seriously ...... If you cannot hear it and you can see in the pic it is not excessively corroded :Ds you have nothing to worry about. If that fails , get the tester to go through the exhaust failure criteria with you and if he still wont budge threaten to phone the mot hotline. He might back down with the thought of the ministry paying him a unscheduled visit. Now that tape on your sill is another thing ;D , hope you have replaced it with a piece of metal , with a continuos weld of coarse. Dave

Ah yes,
Cheers for the advice dave. I replaced the parcel tape months ago... it is the ripped floor I have a problem with.
Turns out it was the patch I put in that has also ripped as well as where I welded up the cracks on the outside.
at least it wasent my welding of the internal patch so my welding must be stronger than the 1mm sheet metal I put in.
Gunna get it done professionally in 2-3mm metal this time.
N :-)
