i had the same knocking nosie on my first mini in was a bit knocking and clicking and i found that a had ripped the front subframe mount off the body of the car were it bolts to the bit by the floor pan it always happens when i put my foot down because the engine rock and moved the subframe which riped it more and more.
have a look, out comes the welder
if not it maybe you ball joints or wheel bearings maybe a good idea to renew all the bushes around the car to be safe
hope it helps dean

Blimey, this is how people start taking there minis to pieces and the things start costing money.
Clicking/ticking/knocking on full lock , its the outer cv joint (outer driveshaft joint) .
Give Bill a call Darren , he will be able to check it as he is in Eastbourne.
Dave,

you need to loosen the hub nut, take the wheel off, undo the top and bottom swivels nuts, release the swivel joints so the hub is then free from the suspension, pull the hub off the driveshaft, can be done without undoing the brake hose, and knock the driveshaft jiont off the end of the driveshaft. Be carefull not to pull the inner joint out of the gearbox although it goes back ok. Then put it all back together. Use a jack and axle stands for safety etc, a long bar would be handy. See u mate, I am off to Newquay for a maiden voyage in my dads new camper and without any kids. Cant wait to go. Dave DAVE
