Hello... the car broke down yesterday for the first time since I've had it. One shower of rain and a loose coil lead dont go well! As dumb/lazy as it sounds I couldn't be bothered to try and see what was wrong and just called the AA... Neway the point of the message is to ask if anyone knows where u can get a water protector cover in clear plastic cos the only one I've got is black and shabby so I leave it off....hence the water on the electrics. Either that or does anyone know a good way of making one? Stephen

Stephen I had same problem too yesterday, and for the first time ever. Had to go to Brighton and was severely embarrassed going round the by-pass (2nd gear and 20mph). Never a big hole to swallow you up when you need one. If you find out where to get a good water protector, please, please let me know. Can't be doing with all this messing around.............lol Rachel ;D

Hi Rachel, I'll let you know if i manage to find any.... I've seen a lot of cars at shows with see through ones which are cool but I hven't found any shops that sell them as yet.... just the black ones. If it just stopped raining that would be good Stephen

hi stephen/rachel,reference a cover 4 the dizzy, back in the early days long long ago,on our mini's we used the old faithful marrygolds just snip of the finger tips and thread the spark plugs leads through and the hand part fits snugly roung the body of the dizzy,of course the thum is used for the coil lead, lol lol. i have seen those ones at shows, the london/to/brighton should have some,if not the marrygolds wins hands down.lol lol. hope this is some help.by the way i do not use rubber thingys myself,i keep the area clean and free of grease and exhaust deposits from other viecles who we park behind at traffic lights ect, ect, as there tail pipes drive there crap threw the grill straight into this area, another alternative is the problem almost goes away totaly if you have electronic egnition, werth a thought, ;D ;D

I have the standard large splash shied on my Studio 2 , not had a prob in the 4 years I have had the car, it lives outside and gets driven all year and every day to work along the seafront and cliff tops in all the bad wet n windy weather the british weather dreams up. You can buy the genuine splashshield as a kit from Minispares , its in the Minispares catalogue that came with the June Miniworld , it costs under £30, sounds lots but I am buggered if I am breaking down on the A27 just cos I am to tight to find £30. If u are to tight , find a large sandwich box lid and stick that down behind the grille. If you electrics are not in good nick and you have no splashshield and venture out in the rain you could get damp problems whether you have electronic ignition or points. Dave
