Help!!! Manky is a bit poorly, the windscreen wipers have suddenly stopped working (not good news with this weather) and the hazard lights have stopped too. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing both these problems to happen at once? Thanks Rachel

jims right , the inline fuses behind the air filter can play up . More so the fuse holders than the fuses themselves . The same goes for the main fuse box. Sometimes you can rotate the fuse in the fusebox on a dead circuit and it will come to life as turning the fuse cleans the contacts. Clean with electrical contact oil. Wiper wheel boxes do seize up . Easily fixed. I have a method of unsiezing the worst of wheel boxes.. Sometimes if the wiper s work in the off the screen position and not on the screen it may mean you have a lazy motor . The wiper motor on my mark one is the original motor from 1960 , it is tired and will only work with water on the screen , if I use it dry it will not move far befote it stops . have fitted new wheel boxes as the splines on the old ones were so bad the wiper arm kept coming off , but that has not helped . Regarding wiper blades and arms , the best arms to get are either the standard black ones or if you want chrome get them from Minispares with there chrome wiper blades to match . These actually work many aftermarket chrome and stainless arms/blades do not . I use them on the mark one and they are excellent despite the dodgy wiper motor . Use good quality after market blades if you have the black arms . We keep champion wiper blades at work and these work well on all cars including Minis. Dave

is probably the fuses as dave and jim sed, but hazard light problems can also be caused by their flasher unit... worth checking if its not the fuses.
My stainless/chrome wiper blades from huddersfield spares are useless, have got sum minispares ones to go on now so should be better

Manky is now fit and well again, the windscreen wiper motor was being lazy (don't blame it in this weather - probably having a duvet day). ;D New set of wiper blades bought too just to cheer him up. Thanks guys for your helpful suggestions ;D Rachel

Indicators are fine but hazards are not. The strange thing is, the indicators wouldn't work because the hazard switch was in "on" position. Now we have turned the hazard switch "off" the indicators work but the hazards don't. Look at them another day.........lol Rachel

try the hazard switch or flasher module its usually the culprits , i had one in today no hazards and very strange indicators !!!?!?!? the indicators looked as if they had a dimmer switch attatched to them blink theyre on the fade , blink fade blink fade blink fade blink fade blink fade ,,,,,,, changed two flasher modules sorted !! both modules had been effected by damp or water damage often happens this time of the year . there is a fix , there is a plastic sealed unit in halfords its waterproof and electronic it requires three connections . you only have two connections all you do is connect the live wire to the supply connection 31 and the other connection to 39a the remaining connection is earth simple and modern no more bi-metal plin tink cheap and nasty corrodable relays SORTED.

Cheeky madame , all technical. It's useless info untill its needed . Right about cheap chrome wiper blades as Stephen has found out. Dont by stuff from Hudder..... its all tat or so I have been told, alledgedy, apart from the wheels and tyres. You want parts , dont by 2 of everthing to get 1 good part. Phone Minispares first and save the hasssle Stephen will also tell you that cheap mini discs are also no good , Bill and I have also found this out the hard way . Unfortunately mine were in a box of spares I gained . Autolec in Finmere road Eastbourne are Ferodo stockists , they are quality discs , we use them for our customers cars so we do not have to replace cheap ones because of brake judder 200 miles down the road. Now Tony tells me that the flasher unit was changed when the tow bar was fitted, so thats probably where the problem stems from. Any ideas anyone?

Being colourblind I am not experianced with electrics Why was the hazard relay changed , Do they need a special relay for the towbar electrics ? There is or was a towbar place in Eastbourne that may help . I think it was in the yard for the bodyshop at the bottom of Eastdean hill just as you get into Eastbourne past the escape lane on the A259. If its not there it is on the left down a alley amongst the houses on the A259 between that bodyshop and the traffic lights. Sur you will sort it yourselves , Try Shawn Dave
