Hi guys
Four weeks ago i decided to put April in the garage and sorn her for the winter, i had started to have a couple of reliability issues with her (it is a mini after all) sometimes when turned off she wouldn't start and it sounded like a bad battery or earth this happened for the last 13 years not a problem ,just walk away the come back and start first twist ,this averaged about once or twice a year ,last year itbacome more regular so i took her into the workshop and had a look ,i found a faulty immobilizer so after a few days trolling the net i found the info i needed and fitted a bypass on the start inhibit line problem solved or i thought i had . happy with this i parked her up for the winter after a few re starts and stops no problem .
Today i tried to start her and you guessed it she wouldn't start ,after a few simple checks for spark and fuel i found the in tank fuel pump wasn't priming on the second click of the key ,i put diagnostics on to the car and tested all the actuators and function tests and they all come back fine with no codes either .(stumped ) i then took off the ptc relay module which lives on top of the master servo housing and removed the printed circuit board from the case ,low and behold one of the connection legs to a relay was burned out at the point where the relay transfers the power to a flying leg to the external socket ,i removed the burned out pin and leg and re soldered a piece of 2.5mm sq copper wire in its place re fitted the card to the box and plugged it in .I switched on the ignition and then i could hear the relay and pump and the fuel being squirted into the throttle body .
When i turned the key to start her again the car cranked just like it did before but still didn't fire ,Ive ruled out the crank position sensor because it is sparking and now i have fuel so i am stumped ? does nay one know what else it could be ? and yes she has a half tank of fuel Jim !
