Hi guys and happy new year to all .
This is the time of the year people are thinking of pulling the minis out of over wintering and will start tinkering ready for show season .
If you have a injection mini I have the full ROVER diagnostics kit for anything rover 1995 onward.
Pm me if you have any ecu based rover issues which need dealing with .
The equipment can be used to diagnose any faults which may be making the car feel as if it is lacking power etc ,it can also erase fault codes ready for re reads and further diagnostics .
It is not un common for the ecu in the mini to flag up codes and make the engine run in limp home mode effectively running the engine rich and limiting the revs .
People sometimes unplug sensors from the engine management/sensors to ease the access to something else ,this can also flag up a fault even if the ignition has not been switched on which has been a common misconception by many ,as a consequence the codes derived from this have to be erased in order for the engine to perform as designed.
finally if you need to work on anything which needs a sensor to be unplugged (I.E. Air filter box removal ) follow the service manual advise which clearly says disconnect the battery leave it for at least half an hour (dissipates residual stored current) then proceed ,when job has been completed ensure sensors are re connected before battery is then re connected ,this will negate any faults from being registered on the ecu ,then take for a drive for a while so the ecu can settle back in.
Also available is Peugeot Planet and Citroen Lexia full dealership diagnostics along side other make basic diagnostics .
