I'm looking for a volunteer with a standard or close to standard carb'd engine that you'd like to fit a stage one kit to.
The plan is to have the engine rolling road tuned by A-series guru AC Dodd, a Stage one kit fitted and a re-tune.
You'll need to provide the car, stage one kit and get it to the rolling road and back.
I'll provide AC Dodd and full photographic coverage of the conversion, and hopefully dyno time, plus help swapping the manifolds and filter over.
Can't get a better offer than that if you already have a stage one kit waiting to go on. Let me know.

I'd also be interested in getting hold of a car to dyno, whip the head off and lap the valves back in and re-dyno.

No, it's all to be arranged. AC's local rollers are SanSpeed up in Bexleyheath (about an hour and a half from your neck of the woods) but if we can find a closer one also up for getting involved...
Ant has registered his interest too, although ideally I'd like a car we can do both the valves and stage one kit on. The idea being to show the actual performance benefit of a stage one kit, as most people will fit one to a less than optimal standard engine, have it tuned and be amazed at the difference. If we have it running sweet beforehand it will be a proper measure

Ant messaged me first, although he already has a modified head and the standard engine would be best really.
Do you have a standard manifold and filter? The ideal scenario would be if you had a standard exhaust too.
Any stage one kit will do the job, second hand or new. Preferably an upgrade to a Cooper freeflow exhuast, alloy inlet and K&N type filter.
Also we'd need the engine to be serviceable, so if it's only running on three, smokes and sounds like a bag of nails this will be pointless. Not saying it is!

i have a standard filter, im unsure on the manifold, but previous owner said it was standard i would be using maniflow cooper freeflow exhaust manifold, alloy torquemaster inlet manifold and K&N air filter element, basically the mini spares kit, brand new the engines been ok since having the head skimmed, but i havent used it much over holidays, only to pootle round bexhill, took out today though and started first time, no smoke but yet to go on a good run

You'll know if the manifold is standard because it'll be one-piece rather than separate for the inlet and exhaust

Are you planning to change the exhaust system?

yes i was going for the RC40 whenever i decided to get round to fitting the stage 1, but if you mean changing it before fitting my stage 1 i dont really want to source another exhaust if ive got one to go on already cheers alex

Borrow a standard exhaust and bolt it on, it will only be on for a little while as it will be coming off. Then give it back. . And buy a stage one kit with a free flow manifold and a twin box from mini spares. This gives the best power, and you engine who'll like it better than that twin dtm But if you look on the for sale section I have both for sale. Then you just need k&n or similar, alloy inlet and the right needle which I bet ac will have. www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=37334&title=This one of the best on the Market. Fits very well. Well proven and gives the power it says. Unlike cheaper ones out there. if you want the most out your engine you need a freeflow and twin box side exit. it's perfect for a 998. Or I can't see away that you can do it.

It would make a better comparison if you could borrow a standard exhaust system, even if to give it straight back after.
Will ask Adrian what he reckons is best
